Sergio Parisse
First topic message reminder :
This guy is a legend. One of the finest no8s the game has seen.
What do you think of him? Is he one of the best? Does he only stand out because he is surrounded by mediocre players? Would his performances improve if he was surrounded by quality players (e.g. if he was playing for the All Blacks). Has playing for a tier two team improved/lessened how we view him?

doctor_grey wrote:Taylor, just saw your comment, and I agree at least 1000%.
Those of you in the diaspora are still cousins and distant kin. Mother England never forgets you, even if many of our remote kin do so from time to time. Just remember, Mother England will always love and embrace you. She still cares, and will always welcome you home at any time. In her heart of hearts she holds you close to her ample bosom, whether you are aware or not. Deep within the core of your being, she lives! And it radiates some of the goodness which you show people each day. She clearly sees the competition between our selves as nothing more than a fraternal scrap within the family, which have heppened throughout history. Families have kerfuffles ans scuffles. But still family we are. And in all, Mother England knows. And cares.
Our current steward and servant for Mother England, Her Beloved Majesty, Elizabeth II Regina, knows you and would love you to come home even for a short time to top up your emotional and psychological spirit. A pilgrimage to the veritable fountain of life. Elizabeth II Regina, has sacrificed much to ensure the children of Mother Engand recognise our 'oneness' and maintain and embellish these bonds. For eternity.
Fear not the ankle biters, they are the unloved or those who ruefully reject thier kinship. They go through their lives in their pit of despair. Without repentance, they will never transcend to Avalon upon the death of their earthy body. And mentioning Avalon, clearly Eden was the first attempt - not too bad from what i read, but it took Englishmen, true of heart, and in service to Mother England to create Camelot and then Avalon - the blessed resting place for all with Mother England in their hearts. I hear through the grapevine, Rugby is played there.................
Good on you Doc, and speaking of Avalon, good to see Mr Lionhearts poor old bones have been found out in the carpark.
He foundered our Crusaders didnt he so the link to Mssrs Mccaw and DC, Webb Ellis and Rugby and Liz II is doubly uncanny...not to mention Eden...park.
Gawww. Where will it end doc...!

Taylor,
Yeah you need to understand the English Dicks. This one, Richard III, was killed just because he assassinated his two nephews who were the direct heirs so he could become king - our king. Sometimes people don't have a sense of humour. Happened in Leicester, where hope usually goes to die......

Not sure whether you saw this, but this is how he was coronated:

Re: Sergio Parisse
Richard III - member of the royal family, yorkshireman, links to Gloucester.....I'm sure they actually enearthed Mike Tindall. And when I saw that crooked spine I immediately thought of Mike Tindall's nose.
So if Tindall is Richard III, Duke of Gloucester reincarnated, should William and Harry be a bit nervous?

Yes but a matter of a couple of inches and that flick wouyld have come off his studs and gone backwards. It was the fact he did it and juggled the ball to catch it at running pace which was so impressive.
It also took all the heat off Heaslip for almost coqing up such a promising position by not getting his pass away soon enough.

Thanks doc just made my morning- brilliant. Hope Disney, kia and the boys have seen that.
Pity we didnt think of that in 07- we could have removed him before the second half!
No wonder he missed the forward pass- couldnt see the ball coming straight at him...love him or hate him...hes had an eventful career so far.

I love the crowd reaction....
Huge cheer intially,
Then a big OOOOHHHH as the replay plays and Barnes looks shaky,
Then a big laugh as Barnes looks ok and the 2nd replay.
Gotta love human nature!

All we need now is to get someone to make one of those music vids with the ball re-hiting Barnes a hundred time back and forwards. Be good for kiwis to watch on a cold bleak winters day to cheer them up!

Re: Sergio Parisse
Just thought id step in here to mention Perisse is massively over rated by the Sky team, 6Ns pundits and some fans.
If he played for any other team than Italy we'd all be shouting for him to get off the wing and do some work. Luckily he looks good for the replays and scores tries every so often.

A simple soccer move???? Thats hard to do with a soccer ball let alone with a fecking rugby ball. Jeez you guys have high standards. Even Quade Cooper said it was class.Glas a du wrote:profitius wrote:Theres alot of people getting carried away after the weekend. Yeah, being in support on a break is just being lazy on the wing
He was being lazy all day - not like he was Italy's joint top tackler (11 none missed), ran almost TWICE as far with the ball as any of Italys players (104m to 62 by the winger or 76 by the French FB), beat more defenders than anyone else (3) and had more clean breaks than anyone else (3).
Yeah, he's rubbish...

Beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder. Thing was he was effective against the then 6N favourites (bookies that is...not biased fans) so if hes punching from no.6 team against no. 1 of course he would go well on a more resourceful side.

Re: Sergio Parisse
Mskes sense. I am with the people who do rate Parisse, and think he is quite good. Put him with some better players and he would really demonstrate his worth. I am hoping Italy do really well this year, but that means some uncomfortable times for the rest of us here.Taylorman wrote:Beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder. Re: Sergio Parisse
Parisse was very poor in this match. Its one thing comparing players like Parisse to those like Read when theyre playing well but theres no similar call for it after this match. Several unforced errors, dropped balls etc.
Its not only about having great performances, its about having them consistently as well.

Completely agree.
He reminds me of the SA 8 of a couple of seasons back, brilliant one game but then far too poor next
