Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
Feeling a little nervous about this evenings game. Carney missing but the Sharks seem very confident this year. Brett Stewart probably out and I think last week's match took a lot out of them. The Roosters only went back to training yesterday... they were that knackered. Nice weather - low 20s and sunny but I noticed a cooler breeze outside just now (11:30am)
Tipped Newcastle - silly choice if they get thrashed - but they and the media have talked themselves up and WB seems to have his players peaking at the right time. All the odds are against them though. (should have gone with the Storm)

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
We're back to the old system. Top 4 get 2 chances; 5,6,7,8 sudden death.
1st week 1 v 4, 2 v 3, 5 v 8 and 6 v 7.
Roosters (1) and Rabbitohs (2) won last week so they got a week off and went straight into the Prelim Finals.
Cowboys (8) and Bulldogs (6) eliminated in week 1 by Sharks (5) and Newcastle (7) respectively.
Last night and this evening also sudden death. So Manly will play Souths at ANZ next weekend (winner into GF) and the Chooks will play the winner of Storm v Knights match tonight. Winner of that match (next weekend) is into the GF.
(AFL same system but they are a week ahead of the NRL so GF next week; Hawks v Dockers or Swans)

Yes, spot on.
Great win by the Knights this evening. They really roughed up the Storm. It was their first ever win down there.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
They are definitely on the up and full of confidence but I still think the Roosters will have enough firepower... hard to tip.
Manly are battered and bruised and Souths had the week off. However, they are very confident too. Just praying that they are too confident and Manly will ambush them... but you know me - I'm a one-eyed Sea Eagle fan.
I'm thinking a Souths-'Easts' GF like all the pundits have predicted. Would love to see Manly v Roosters though.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
So it comes down to a Roosters v Sea Eagles Grand Final
I think the Roosters have probably been the strongest team but i won't right the Sea Eagles off either .
In fact i think they can win it .

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
Yes, the Roosters were awesome this evening. Hopefully it will be a close match next Sunday.
Last night was a great night for me. It felt pretty intimidating before the match with all the Rabbitohs fans in a frenzy at 14-0. I just kept calm and hoped that the Manly team would claw their way back. It's going to be a tough encounter for both sides in the GF.
I'm going early (1:30pm) to watch the NSW Cup, Holden Cup beforehand.

Re: 2013 NRL Premiership: Fixtures, Results and Table
They finished strongly. SBW's offload was immense. Was sitting not far from that corner where Minni floated the pass over to SKD. At 18-8 it seemed hopeful (not sure about the penalty try... felt a little guilty?) but the best side won in the end. The Jennings try was awesome as well.
Amazing day out there. It was so hot (34 deg) when I got there for the first game... so about 7 hours all up. Cronulla thrashed Windsor 36-8 in the NSW Cup and the Panthers held off the Warriors 42-30 in the Holden Cup.
So, another year over. I don't feel too bad really. I have a few Roosters mates so texted them my congratulations. They were over the moon of course. One said that they thought it was all over too (early 2nd half) and it was 'rare' for them to win the GF and they were very fearful of Manly.
Great for us locals to get an all-Sydney GF too... something special in the air yesterday. A fair bit of 'love to hate' but the relief from the Roosters fans was worth witnessing.
