Revolution Empty Revolution

Post by Kenny Tue 26 Feb 2013, 4:31 pm

Sky keep plugging this as coming soon ...................it will start on 22nd March on Sky 1 from i can find out about it .

the premise of the show :-

Revolution takes place in a post-apocalyptic dystopian future. Fifteen years earlier, an unknown phenomenon disabled electricity on the planet and effectively all devices powered by it, ranging from computers and electronics to car and jet engines. People were forced to adapt to a world without electricity. Due to the collapse of government and public order, many areas are ruled by warlords and militias. The series focuses on the Matheson family, who possess a special device (a mysterious pendant) that is the key to not only finding out what happened fifteen years ago, but also a possible way to reverse its effects. However, they must elude Sebastian Monroe, the General of the Monroe Militia and President of the Monroe Republic who wants to possess that power for himself for conquest of the former United States of America.[8]

Revolution Empty Re: Revolution

Post by kingjohn7 Tue 26 Feb 2013, 5:55 pm

Watched the first 4 or so episodes. Really like the future(but more like the past) setting, and thought id really like it, but could not continue watching because the acting was so terrible. And I really do not have high standards, I thought I could watch anything. Also I got the feeling that a really complicated + ridiculous story would play out.

The second half of the series is about to resume over here. It sort of struck me as a cross between the Hunger Games (although not seen or read) and Falling Skies (without aliens).

I've read and seen. Apart from there's some trees and greenery it's nothing like The Hunger Games.

I watched the first few episodes when it first started in September and got bored quick. It's a good idea but executed poorly and the acting at times is horrible.

Maybe I didn't explain it very well but my point was more about the use of the similar things MJ, there's bows and arrows in Revolution and isn't that the weapon used by the girl in the hunger games?

Falling Skies had militia groups and independents same as revoultion

I've seen the first 10 episodes and its not a bad show but it does have its problems. The acting can feel a little stiff at times though not really though the fault of the dialogue, more from the fact some of the actors have yet to get comfortable with their characters. Arrow had a similar problem though it also has some terrible dialogue issues as well, though as that shows seasons progressed its got better on both fronts and hopefully in time so can Revolution.

There is a slight Hunger Games vibe with the strong female lead but any other similarities are consequences of the story setting. Then again apart from Jennifer Lawrence the Hunger Games was a pretty average piece of film, some terrible dialogue and shoddy over acting mixed in with a story done better in other films.

Revolution story wise has promise but it needs to get a firmer grip on where it wants to go with its story, though half way through the first season its still got time. Plus a few of the actors need to get a better idea on their characters as some of them feel a bit bland and disjointed at the moment.

Might just sound like wooden/poor acting but for me its not, true wooden or phoned in acting is something like "Resident Evil: Retribution" and everyone's (Especially the guy who play's Leon) performance bar Milla Jovovich.

Revolution decent but not great, deserves a season and a half out of me to see where it goes both on a story and character level.

I've been a fan of The Hunger Games for about 3 years since I first read the first book of the trilogy. I have to admit the film left me feeling like "WTF?!?!" they left out so much that most people say would have made the film better. I had to read the books again to remind myself why I was so excited for the movie.

I may give Revolution another go. I saw an ad for it on NBC whilst watching ice hockey last night and it made the second half of the season look good.

I saw the first 2 episodes and won't be watching again.
Would have prefered it if it was set right after the blackout instead of 15 years after.

Agree. Don't know why they had to set it 15 years later. Can only guess it's to allow someone to discover why the power failed.

The idea is good but the dialogue and acting of some of the militia people is just awful.

Probably won't be watching anymore.

No surprise it was renewed back in April, its viewing figures are decent enough and on par with Hawaii 5-O in the 18-49 category. It's biggest problem viewer wise seems to stem from how long it was left off air after its initial 10 episode run. Plus its on NBC and its not like they are overflowing in shows with good ratings.

As for the actually show, it could have been so much more and maybe in time it will but for now it seems a bit lost in what it wants to be in so my areas. It's got a decent fanbase though and or now that's all it needs.

This returned on Sunday - I thought it was a much better start to the second series

It had a darkness to it that I liked and now they have moved past the 'why did the lights go out' plot line I think there is scope for this show to really grow

Am enjoying the second season so far.

Been pretty good.

Monroe is better in this series.

I do think Tracey Spiridakos(charlie) is even hotter.

Anyone still watching? I'm really into it, annoyed by the time between episodes and even the season breaks these American shows seem to have. Would probably enjoy it even more if it were all Netflix style!

Monroe is an awesome bad guy, makes me laugh when he shouldn't!

I know what you mean about the time it's on now, but seeing as I record it on TiVo and watch it whenever it makes little difference anyway! Just watched this weekend's one.
