Superman - Yes I know it's a classic but come on he finds Lois dead and flies around the world and goes back in time till Lois is alive!!! You selfish b****d why didn't you stop the second world war while you were at it!!!!............

Unforgiven - Munny should really have got shot in the back as he left
Shawshank Redemption - happy ending felt a bit forced
It's A Wonderful Life - pass the vomit bag please

Freaks - stapled on happy ending so as not to upset early cinema-goers

Monty Python & the Search for the Holy Grail - literally a cop out as they all get arrested at the end, the pythons just seemed to run out of ideas leaving the viewer (or me anyway) feeling deflated

Signs, the village, lady in the water. Pretty much all M Night Shyamalans films bar the 6th sense.

The planet of the apes remake. Just doesn't make sense, they just wanted a shocking finish like the original.

My worst though is Identity, plays like a good thriller then you find out its all happening in the head of one nutter.

Surprised Knowing hasn't been mentioned. A decent film up until that rubbish at the end.

Never seen it...and won't now!!

Truss, have you seen the Donner Cut of Superman 2? He explains what was supposed to happen at the end of the first one which would lead into 2. The World spin wasn't meant to be the end of Superman 1.

Lawless, awesome film for 2 hours, then a 5 minute ending!

Not necessarily a great film, but the Bond film where his girlfriend gets killed and the bad guy gets away. WTF was that about!!! I would understand if it led to a follow on but it didnt!

PS Im not talking about Casino Royale but the one where they are on a skiing resort.

I am going to offer up an unusual one now:

True Romance.

My favourite film of all time. the original ending had Clarence dying (it was also filmed and on the DVD extra).

However, Tony Scott wanted the current ending where Clarence lives. And for me it was the right decision. The story calls for him to get killed and it would have fitted in with the story.

hOwever, although Tony copped out, I think he did the right thing.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service. They kept the ending from the book - in the books You Only Live Twice picks up 8 months later with Bond burying himself in drink & gambling, and on the verge of being sacked.

Of course in the movies, You Only Live Twice (Connery's 5th outing) preceeded On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Rick Lester gets a bad rap for Superman 2...........I for one like some of the scenes he chucked in..........

Seen the Donner cut............Only thing I liked was Brando........Who Lester wanted but couldn't have...........because of money......Brando wouldn't have been in the Donner supe 2 either!

Yeh, I feel for Lester. He was gonna get a bad rap for it whatever happened. I enjoyed the theatrical version I thought it was a good film.

The Donner cut was good, I liked all the little additional scenes especially when Lois shoots him to prove he's Superman. The only bit I didn't like was him destroying the Fortress.

It's a shame they couldn't get Brando into the Lester version.

Really interesting film up until the lead character has an alien removed from her stomach by a super operating machine while he is ALIVE and then when the machine stitches her up she promptly runs around like Usain Bolt.

Terrible from there on and let down ending.

Speed

No need for the train scene. Should have found a way of lobbing Hopper on the bus and then slowing it down, or something like that.

Malena - should have ended when she left on the train instead of wringing out a contrived happy ending

I'd forgotten that one - absolutely spot on, should have ended with the bus chase. The subway scene just felt a bit tacked-on, and that they'd missed the climax of the action.

Can I also nominate Return of the Jedi as a weak ending to that trilogy? After the epic opener and the much darker second film, it somehow felt too much like a kids movie, complete with cheesy ending.

I'm not knocking it after seeing speed 2..

Agree about Return Of The Jedi. This is arguably the weaker of the 6 films.

Return of the Jedi is quite frustrating because it had the potential to be a great ending to the original trilogy but was ruined by the damn ewoks and the idiotic party scene. Would've been great to set Cujo or a couple of velociraptors loose among them.

Nah, the last one was good. Not sure they were as bad as some say, although a bit disappointing.

The prequels would be ok if you removed Jar Jar Binks & Hayden Christensen.

Gladiator - Not quite the spectacle I hoped for. Reaching to heaven and Poopie.

Rapid Fire - Brandon Lee chases the bad guy onto the rail tracks, a fight ensues and then for some reason the whole scene is speeded up about three times and it looks like the bad guy is killed by the Keystone Cops

The Breakfast Club.
