When theres nothing on the tv
I was a little unsure whether to put this in the TV section or the Film section but given my choice tonight i put it here but feel free to answer with movies if you want .
We have all been there , your flicking through the channels but can't find anything you want to watch so you pick a dvd off the shelf .
Well that happened to me again tonight , so i put a dvd on it could of been a film but tonight i thought i would revisit 1973 and spend some time in the company of the Gene Genie ...............................yes that's right i watched the whole first series of Life on Mars
Hunt: They reckon you've got concussion – but personally, I couldn't give a tart's furry cup if half your brains are falling out. Don't ever waltz into my kingdom playing king of the jungle.
Tyler: Who the hell are you?
Hunt: I'm Gene Hunt. Your DCI. And it's 1973. Nearly dinner time. I'm 'aving hoops
classic
So what did you choose to watch the last time there was nothing on the tv ?

About two weeks ago I started re-watching Twin Peaks. What a show! I forgot how funny it was at times.

I tend to switch to channel Dave and stare blankly while my brain decomposes.

That is my standard reaction to nothing being on the tv too. Friday though I couldn't be bothered to watch the same episode of QI again and put The Blues Brothers on, probably my favourite film of all time. It had been a while since I'd watched it and had forgotten just how much I love it!

Re: When theres nothing on the tv
Go to bed and/or read a book.
Will occasionally manage to convince my wife there's nothing on worth watching (amazing the s***t she thinks is quality tv) and she is forced to consider the possibility that she may have to endure upwards of three minutes of sexual congress with me. Perhaps there's a connection between the two....hmmm!

Re: When theres nothing on the tv
Back in the day I would have either gone to the pub or watched some 'specialist' tv on the computer.
Now, a wife, 4 kids and a soul destroying working life later, I usually just fall asleep if there is nothing on.
If I do manage to stay awake, my default position is either Phoenix Nights/Partridge/The Office box-set or something like Stand by Me to make me smile.

I would watch the Sopranos again. Either that or turn the TV of and read a book. Try it occasionally folks you may learn something.

About some 1920's South American boxer that no-one other than you gives a toss about, Jeff? I am beginning to see just what TSMR sees in you.
I have the best part of two hours a day commuting to read books. I get through one a week this way, easily. That makes me considerably more intelligent than you.

I get the tram to work Tina so also have adequate opportunity to read. The journey is considerably shorter than yours but obviously my greater intellectual capacity more than makes up for the shortfall in time.

I haven't got on to that yet, Dave. Still struggling with those 3 page inflatable books that kids use in the bath.

I just get my mum to read to me when she puts me to bed. That way I can bash one out without getting paper cuts.

Gonna swing for the person who bought one for my daughter. You have to stand it up in the bath in an "X" to ensure all the pages dry out properly and the people who design this stuff clearly don't have kids either.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:DAVE667 wrote:Struggle to see why it's taking you so long to read "The Hungry Caterpillar" Tina!I have the best part of two hours a day commuting to read books. Can I suggest going to bed with you missus? Not me, you...not that I wouldn't sleep with your missus....not that I've met her...not suggesting that I'd sleep with any random woman...oh dear, this is going horribly wrong!!

Not sure what you watch, but my current obsession is watching fights between different insects. I watched a great battle between a huge spider and some kind of big fly that followed the spider into a hole. I assumed the spider was going to eat it, but a few minutes later, the fly slowly backs out of the hole dragging this huge spider between its jaws. Amazing stuff.
It is either insect fights or videos of female popstars shedding their clothes.

If only there was YouTube footage of female postars shedding their clothes and then fighting giant insects to the death

All sorts Tino
Music, sports injuries, old TV shows, Paul Scholes, and the occasional naughty one.

A bit bigger than insects but saw some Youtube footage a while back of a couple of lions catching a buffalo. The rest of the buffalo herd then regathered and charged the lions only for another one to be killed. Then the buffalos realised it was a bit pointless & p1ssed off.
I normally use Youtube when I'm drunk and can never think of anything to watch beyond Gangnam Style & the apartment scene from Kick-A$s.

Old car adverts are good.
The new ford escort with electric windows.
Or, old computer games, like manic minor. They look a little dated now, obviously.

Re: When theres nothing on the tv
If my family is in the house and I can actually get to the TV set through all my Mrs defensive booby traps.........
Blame it on Rio..........Makes me feel good and I like perving at a nubile Demi Moore and Michelle Johnson..
If my family is out...........................Maybe something from my private stash hidden at the bottom of the Grandfather clock in the study..........
Maybe a peter North dvd or something...

Re: When theres nothing on the tv
Funny enough she came into the study to play with the Grandfather clock (It doesn't chime) a couple of weeks ago.....Luckily she didn't play too thoroughly.......
It was terrible the thought of having to explain to her that it was perfectly natural for our oldest to watch and hide porn at his age....and we should not get too alarmed!!
