Worst player of the year?

With all the chat about who's been the finest players lets not forget about the lowest of the low. So who deserves the hall of shame trophy? My votes either Edu or torres

Essien must be included in there. Has any player regressed as much as him this year?

Gibson, Bosingwa, All of Arsenals Centre Backs, Torres,

Gregers that's a bit harsh on Vermaelen. Also Torres is still Liverpool's 3rd top scorer (behind Kuyt and Maxi.)

Also if this is including all leagues then Richard Offiong. I bet no-one excluding maybe the odd follower of the SPL has even heard of him.

Richard Offiong was a youth player at Newcastle. Played for Walsall as well didn't he?

Not sure about Walsall but he went to Hamilton, then Carlisle bought him and he's just been turned down by Gateshead. Biggest waste of £75,000 ever.

Nah, he wasn't at Walsall, someone else i was thinking of.

I think Fernando Torres has been the worst, considering his previous years. But Michael Carrick has been poor this season and also Darren Gibson.

I dont think Gibson is the worst player, I just dont think he has been given a consistent run of games. Torres hasnt been the player we expected this season, however he was rushed back at Liverpool when not fit and was asked to play a completely different way. For me it has to be Arshavin, whenever I have seen him play he looks lazy and not interested

He hasn't suffered one injury this season.

I know but I dont think he ever recovered fully from playing through an injury and didnt look fit

His injury was suffered in the World cup. He never got a pre season but looked like he wanted away never got any real effort from him. Given the standard he had shown before this season I would go for him as worst player of the season relative to previous form and ability.

Gomes really? He's actually a overall pretty good goalkeeper he just makes quite a few mistakes.

For some reason we payed Offiong's wages for a year and a half, despite the fact that in that time he played just 15 league games scoring once, he couldn't even score for our reserves.

I think quite a few Arsenal players could be up for it Squillaci, Koscielny, Arshavin, Almunia/Fabianski, and maybe Bendtner.

Andrei Arshavin has been disappointing so he would be my pick.

Would disagree with people saying Gomes and Torres Gomes has just had a few bad games recently and Torres has just been poor for Chelsea people forget he was doing excellent at Liverpool.

Essien,Bosingwa,Almunia and Santa Cruz have all had poor seasons.

I agree he's been disappointing (I know I included him in my list of Arsenal players who could be up for it), but its not been that bad a season statistically: 35 league games, 6 goals and 11 assists.

He's been that poor in recent matches he's been dropped to the bench, I think alot of them assists and goals were early in the season I'm sure had around 4 or 5 goals at Christmas.

He had scored 4 goals by the 29th of December, and hasn't scored since the 19th of March. Also you said Torres shouldn't be on because he did well before he went to Chelsea, but really 10 goals in a season is poor for a striker.

At what point this season was Torres doing excellent for Liverpool? He has had a poor season for both clubs.

I can't see how anyone can think that any of the above players mentioned are worse players or have had a worse season than the Fort William Goalkeeper.

Bebe was surely the worst no?

I judged it on the standar the player had set before. Bebe hadn't set a high standard so didn't have much to live up to.

If we all judge by the standard set Almunia can't be up for being the worst player, we all knew he was rubbish and we've known for a couple of years Arsenal need to get a good goalkeeper.

I judged it on standards that a player set. Bit harsh judging Fernando Torres and Hugo Rodallega on the same level imo.

If you're judging based upon usual standard than Rodallega had the better season of the two.

Rodallega had a better season of the two no arguement but would Torres be happy if he had the sort of season Rodallega had?

I don't think so he has set his standard higher than that.

I would bet Rodallega isn't that happy with this year either, less games than last season and currently slightly less goals then last season too, not many strikers are going to be happy with single figure goals scored and his team could easily be getting relegated.

That's the point I've been making it's about the standards you set you can't judge every player in the league in comparison to the best in his position.

Well in terms of failing to live up to their usual standard Torres has to be up their for the worst premier league player of the year. Could Rooney be a candidate he's only managed 11 goals in the league this season (don't have stats about his assits, I expect they've risen).

Sorry mate gonna have to disagree about Torres. Looking for the worst player of the season, and he has to qualify. Past exploits or not. That said I'm with you on Gomes, crackin keeper I really rate him

Rooney has improved over the last couple of months but by hs standards he has had an awful season.

Balotelli, for the self proclaimed second best player in the world he was rubbish

I think i love Balotelli, the stuff he does off the park is magic lol
