surrey vs durham LV county championship

Surrey have named a thirteen man squad for the LV=County Championship against Durham at the Emirates Durham ICG starting on Thursday.
Hashim Amla will make his Surrey debut after the South African batsman arrived in England on Monday having signed for the final six Championship games of the summer. Tom Curran is named in a Championship squad for the first time this season

This is rubbish isn't it? Yet another day 1 where we are pretty much out of it by the end. Tremlett has given us a sniff but I'm pretty sure 300 is a good score at Durham. On paper the bowling attack is pretty good but they just don't ever perform or if they do it's one man who does and the rest do nothing. I do wonder about whether we have plans for players and the captaincy which hinder us I think.

A Surrey victory has already gone by Day One again. Perfect bowling conditions and we eff it up again. This team isn't going to win a game this season, and even though Amla is an excellent signing, it's a top quality bowler(s) we need. de Bruyn has bowled 20 overs (so far!), more than Dernbach and Batty (oh aye, and Burns!) This shouldn't be happening!!

Meanwhile Derby look likely to win tomorrow. Our first day performances are absolutely dire.

Need another big clear out - eg Dernbach, Batty, Lewis, De Bruyn etc etc

Very pleased for Tremlett but another awful day. Not much else to say really, I wouldn't bat an eyelid if Solanki and De Bruyn were gone tomorrow. As bad as the batting is Dernbach and Linley should really be getting more than 2 wickets between them from 61 overs at Durham, anyone know what the average first innings score has been there this year? Bet it's slightly below 421!

Also, let's get Jason Roy in and give him an extended run at number 6, if we're going to be rubbish we may as well give someone under 38 a chance.

The only way is down with these over the hill pensioners that Adam assembled. Durham's bowling attack has a 20/22/23/27 yo.....our 'youngest' bowler is 27!
I wouldn't change the team for the next game, in fact I'd bring the awful Keedy and Lewis back as well, so when we do get relegated, we know where the finger of blame lies. So next season, Keedy, De Bruyn, Solanki, Lewis and Batty can all go and we can start afresh with Roy, Sibley, Curran, Ansari, Dunne, Edwards, van den Bergh all given an extended run

37-3 following on - Solanki gone first ball. This really is the worst Surrey team for years. Pathetic display yet again.

The strain of captaincy! Both batty and Solanki got golden ducks.

Only Amla, Tremlett and Davies can come away from the game knowing they did their best. The rest need to take a long look at themselves. Shameful at best.
