I would like to know who selects the candidates and who votes on this ? also why now and not after the World cup final ?

I wish i could help you, but i can't. If i was to guess i would say the panel would consist of selected journalists.

For what it is worth I agree with your comments, given how few international games there are it seems daft not to have this post World Cup.

I am bias however for me good though he is, better than Sam Burgess?

Its funny how 11 months later that Sam Burgess is the man of the moment. Strange world

I thought only Australians and New Zealanders were eligible to win the International player of the year award...only joking.

But seriously, as much as Sam Burgess is man of moment now, but if George Burgess continues on from where he left off in the Grand final, he may well in time out shine his brother.
