And Judd is out! big upset, Marco just potted the big balls when it mattered. Judd missed allot of easy pots there and will be bitterly disappointed.

I saw it when Trump went 4-3 ahead, he looked on form but you can never write a player like Fu off.
I think that Perry will beat Mags as well.

He's a gritty player Fu. That pink he potted, can't remember what frame it was was superb, and ultimately swung momentum his way.

I'll stick my neck out and say Perry will win tonight based on the fact he's carrying form into the tournament and Maguire isn't.

ding - murphy first up. Two excellent techniques on show, should be a decent match. Ding favorite for me. 6-3 win.

Bit of late notice; anyone fancy doing a write up for this years masters. Looking for a review of the Championship (obviously after the final)...the article will be for the soon to launch V2 magazine and you will get writing credit within the magazine itself.
Let me know either on here or drop me a message to my inbox.

Re: MASTERS 2014
I have seen ROS demolish players before but that was bad. When he is on form like this, there is no player on the tour that can stop him I feel. This Masters almost has an air of inevitability about it with Ronnie playing like that.
Last night I could not believe the shot selection oh Higgins in the last two frames, he had so many chances where he could play safely and finish Selby off but his shot selection was bizarre to say the least, Selby also looked confused by them.

If I get to watch the final then yes, if not, no. I'm not too sure of my plans on Sunday and therefore if I don't see the final there's no point in me writing anything.

Poor Ricky, he never really performs in Britain. I think he feels the pressure in the UK because he strikes me as being really, really nervous both playing and being interviewed. I don't think I've ever seen him play well at one of the big 3 events in truth.

Was the 134 a clearance or 2 pots from a maximum ?

He did but how he got that far I don't know. He was pretty dreadful in that match (as was Barry) and choked as soon as he caught a sniff of the winning line.

I really hope that Murphy gets through. Never used to like him but he seems a much nicer person now. Always been a fan of the way he plays snooker though.

Ah poor Shaun, it just wasn't his day. It's nice to see him back in the latter stages of tournaments though and I hope he can push on and finish the season strongly now. As for Selby, we saw his A game today. He took his chances and his safety play was exemplary. I fancy him for this title after today's display.

Its going to be an interesting final should Ronnie get through. Selby is the only player that could possibly push him. Mag's would collapse to Ronnie.

Re: MASTERS 2014
I think it all depends on the first two frames. Mags has started with a bang so far in each match and if he wins the first two he's got a chance. If it goes the other way, it will be a very short night.

I really hope Shaun has no plans to retire from the sport as he's a class act but the way he waved goodbye to the crowd when he lost makes me wonder.

I didn't quite catch what he was saying in his interview but, when talking about it, Hazel mentioned Shaun said something about "finding something else".

Hasn't he been extremely busy with table and cloth development? I think that he is planning on going into that after he retired but not retiring just yet.
Ronnie has won this final, been the best player in the tournament by a country mile.

Oh Mark I saw a tiny bit of the first session (ROS was 5-0 up) and Selby was getting chances but not taking them. I wouldn't put a comeback past him though; he does love one. If he's wearing the silvery suit beware! Still, ROS playing like that makes me smile.

Re: MASTERS 2014
Ronnie has been dominant the whole tournament but he was giving some chances to Mag's yesterday and he has given a few to Selby today. For some reason, neither player could capitalise on them. When Ronnie gives a chance, it simply must be taken.
I cant see Selby making a comeback from here to be honest, Ronnie will win 10-3 or 4.

For all his genius this season, he's beatable. Bingham proved at the UK if you take your chances against him, you'll win, or at least push him close. Snooker isn't all about him though, it's just a shame lots of people think it is.

Re: MASTERS 2014
He can be beaten for sure but players need to be on top form.
It is a shame that a lot of people think that he is the be all to end all of snooker but he certainly is one of the biggest draw cards in the game.
9-3, all but over now.

Re: MASTERS 2014
It takes ROS on an off day to beat him the way he is going at the moment. No one can stop him.

I saw the final session but nothing really of the day session when ROS played what was apparently awesome snooker. If someone else saw it and could write about it they'd be better doing it, if not I can.

Anyije watching the Masters? Ronnie has just beat Selby 6-3, with Steve Davis claiming his clearance to win the match was 'one of the greatest of all time'. Will face Allen or Hawkins in the semi.

No doubt a great clearance but I wouldn't call it greatest ever. I look at it in context in that win or lose it he was still going to be one frame ahead in the match needing just one more frame to win.

Re: MASTERS 2014
Would've been the greatest of all time had he come back from 5-0 down and that was to win 6-5. It was an exceptional clearance though.

Re: MASTERS 2014
well what a match that was between Robertson and Trump. Almost exclusively one-chance snooker, Trump taking it in the decider after a remarkable cut into the middle pocket got him going. 6 centuries in the match in total, with Trump making four of them. Stunning match to both players

Highly surprising that a single frame shoot-out format complete with t shirts and a beer festival, bear pit atmosphere would be made a ranking event. More entertaining than The Winter Olympics though. Then again that wouldn’t be difficult.

Yan Bingtao defeated John Higgins 10-8 to win the 2021 Masters.
Incredible performance from the 20 year old from China. Always nice to see Higgins beaten, who couldn’t replicate his QF standard vs RoS.

Re: MASTERS 2014
Was a good tournament with plenty of final-frame deciders (6, Yan Bingtao played in 3 of them). Trump out before it started, then Selby and Robertson out in the first round blew the tournament wide open. Ronnie came up against two inspired opponents, was fortunate to get past Ding (who bottled it, quite frankly), but couldn't repeat the trick against Higgins.
The final was one of the closest I've seen, with around 6 incredibly tight frames that could have gone either way - Bingtao won 4 of those 6 which was the difference between victory and defeat. The key moment of the final was Higgins missing a double on the final black in the 13th frame; had he got it he would have been 8-5 up and the title all but secure. Instead he missed and it was 7-6.
Hopefully Bingtao can now kick on with this big win and regularly challenge the top four players. Snooker needs more young players at the top end.

Re: MASTERS 2014
Yeah, fantastic final. Bingtao certainly looks to be mentally stronger than Ding, for sure. Could be a real threat going forward. Higgins just peaked against Ronnie, and then he just tailed off and errors creeped in.
Just when you think Trump might begin dominating the sport, he bottles the UK final on that pink, and then is absent through Covid for the Masters. To have only three slams, albeit the Triple Crown, is a poor return, for such talent.
Looking forward the World Championship.

Re: MASTERS 2014
Another Masters win tonight for Ronnie. Further underlining his GOAT status.
Means he gets to bid for all three Triple Crown events in a single season, plus a shot at a record-breaking 8th crucible world title, at the World Championship in a few months.
