help needed please Empty help needed please

Post by 3fingers Wed 05 Mar 2014, 9:23 pm

I'm applying for an instructors role at work tomorrow, I'm giving a theory lesson on boxing. One of my points is that it teaches valuable life lessons but I haven't given it much consideration. So with that in mind, what life lessons does it teach young lads.

Cheers for any help you can give.

Its more around the implications of your actions I feel. In a ring, you learn what its like to get hit and it isn't nice. I've seen bullies turned into good kids by learning what its like to be on the receiving end of a beating. it also allows you to discipline yourself by keeping to a routine in training. Another point is that you gain valuable "thinking on your feet" abilities you can't really get elsewhere. If someone is willfully looking to drag you into their type of fight and its not what you want - how do you react?

You want us to help you wing it? What life lessons does that help teach you fingers?

But since you asked so nicely. In addition to jabby's points...

- Can promote a concept that you have to work hard to achieve something  (take note slacker!).
-,It brings home fairly sharply that short cuts will have a payback ( take note slacker!).
- learn to take defeat and come back stronger
- learn that you can always improve
- to keep battling through adversity - it ain't over til the fat lady sings

Benefits (rather than life lessons) for youngsters in particular, it:
-helps provide a contained outlet for their aggression.
- It can give them something positive to dream about, with examples of that dream becoming reality.
- they can get camaraderie in the gym
- give them some pride and self worth
- respect gained for their opponent, may make them have more respect for others in general

Damn, reading that back I should have taken it up.
Good luck fingers

You can gain many lessons from boxing but the most important is fitness and living a healthy lifestyle which is very important for youngsters to understand.

The merits of being healthy, eating right and excercise only dawns on people when they become sick so boxing can help set kids on the right path.

p.s jabby

we have not seen eye to eye on here. I'v said some things, you said some things but I am willing to bury the hatchet how about you?

Boxing take rough kids off the streets and lets them punch the head off each other.

It teaches them to respect violence, that is an important lesson.

Boxing in 2014 teaches the following:

-- Popularity is more important than talent.
-- Cheaters often win.
-- Meritocracies are a thing of the past.
-- Rules are there to be trampled on.

We've wrapped our youngest in fluorescent paper for the celebration ritual.
