Welcome to Season 6 of the Aviva Premiership fantasy rugby game.  Below are the rules of the game which must be adhered to.  If there are any situations that arise in the course of the game which are not covered by the rules, a final decision will be made by the RFU (SJE) as to how the situation will be resolved.

Senior Squads wrote:
The maximum squad size is 40 senior players.  If a team has more than 40 players in their squad then they will be fined £1 million per player over the permitted amounts per day for the first seven days. If after 7 consecutive days a team still has more than the permitted number of players then the team will be fined £2 million per player per day, and fined 1 league point per player per day for the next seven days. If after this time a team still has more than the permitted number of players in their squad, the RFU (me) will remove players at its discretion to bring them back under the permitted numbers. There will be no right of appeal to players being removed.

Be aware that all tier one international matches which are played during the season will count in the game, and players selected in the match day 23's for those matches will not be eligible to play for their clubs on that weekend, therefore you must give due consideration to the make-up of your squad.
Academy Rules wrote:
Each team will be allowed to have an academy squad of 20 players.  Players who are in the academy must be born on or after 1st September 1991.

Any player, who is at any Premiership club in real life, either in their senior, academy or AASE squads, can be bid for on the domestic bidding page.  Players who are at your own club in real life and are coming through the academy system must be bid for if you want them in your own academy.

Transfers wrote:

  • Domestic (other AP Teams)
Each team has a budget to use in the purchase of players. Domestic transfers between AP clubs, regardless of nationality of player, should be negotiated between the respective managers, and then confirmed on the Domestic Transfer Confirmation Page.
  • Domestic (Championship and below)
Each team may during the season purchase no more than 5 players from the Championship or the National Leagues.  These players must be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page, and each bid will be considered by me on its own merits before being accepted or rejected.  No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.
  • Foreign
To make a foreign transfer (i.e. from any club outside of the AP, regardless of whether the player is English) a bid should be made on the Foreign Transfers Page, which will be considered by me against the posted guidelines for purchase prices before being accepted or rejected. No bid will be accepted until a minimum of 24 hours has elapsed from the time the bid was made, in order to afford other managers the opportunity to make a counter bid.

There will be a summer foreign transfer window, which will run as follows.

    Structured Window

No cash will be used and each team will get effectively free transfers by way of a draft, which will run 12th, 11th, 10th …… 1st, 12th, 11th,10th… 1st place side.  This will run from 10th June 2013 until all teams have had their two picks.

    Open Window

Open transfer window, teams have unlimited bids provided they have the financial resources to cover them.  Teams may only bid for one player at a time.

Player Releases wrote:
Managers may choose to release players from their clubs, for which they will be offered compensation

Compensation will be paid as follows

£2 million – current international (must have played international rugby in the previous 12 months)
£1.5 million – former international
£1m – top flight experience
£0.5m – other

All released players will be deemed to have joined a Championship side and can be bid for on the Domestic Transfer Bidding page.
Retirements wrote:
There will be no compensation for retiring players.  Should a player who retires decide to come out of retirement and play again, then he will automatically go back to the club who he was playing for in the game when he retired.
Fixtures wrote:
There will be 22 Aviva Premiership games per season, plus the play offs. There will also be Heineken Cup, Amlin Challenge Cup and Anglo Welsh Cup matches.  These games will take place once a week. A match thread will be put up every Monday.  Home teams must be named by midnight on Tuesday.  Away teams must be named by midnight on Wednesday.  Both teams must provide tactics by midnight on Thursday.  Predictions will be open from 00:01 hours on Friday and remain open until 20:00 hours on Saturday.  Managers will post the scores that they think will happen from these games (apart from games in which they are involved).  An average of all predictions will be taken, and then 0.5 points added to each teams score for each prediction that had them as the winner, and that will then be the final score.

Managers are asked to provide detail as to why they have predicted a result.  To be considered a descriptive prediction this must be a full 3 lines long when entered into the text box.  If you are not providing a descriptive prediction you will be restricted to predicting a 1 point win either way.
Teams wrote:
When naming your team, not only should you put the starting XV and replacements, but also tactics that your team will employ. Results will be affected by the tactics described.

In addition, each team must have the following:-

At least 10 England qualified players in your match day 23, and at least 4 of those must be in your starting XV.

At least 2 props and 1 hooker on the bench.

All players must be eligible (not injured or banned).

Failure to comply with these rules will result in forfeiting the match and a 1 league point deduction.

If you fail to submit a team for a match, then the other team will be automatically awarded a 30-0 bonus point win. If both teams fail to submit a team, then it will be scored as a 0-0 draw.
Injuries and Suspensions wrote:
Injuries in this game do NOT reflect real life, they will be generated by me.

Players banned in real life will be ineligible for selection in this game for the duration of the ban.

Inclusion of injured/banned players will result in them being replaced by players on the bench, and the bench not having eight players, which may result in punishment if it concerns the front-row.

Punishment for fielding an ineligible player will be loss of one match point for a first offence, two for a second offence and so on.
Financial Rewards wrote:
There will be no rewards for the result of an individual match, instead the managers will receive cash for predicting.

£2m for descriptive predictions
£0.25m for scores on the doors predictions
If you fail to predict without first advising me that you are unable to do so that week, you will be fined £1m for a first offence, £2m for a second offence, £3m for a third offence etc.

Their pack haven't been too bad Pooly, but they have been awful behind that, no creativity whatsoever. Best pack in Super Rugby is the Sharks this season, wish I still had their front row in this game.

Yea pack has been ok Pete but not the level of previous season I don't think. Sharks have looked very tasty, especially the scrum.

4 Nations should be tight this year, I reckon NZ are beatable.

New Zealand are definitely beatable. I think it will come down to whether Meyer gets it right tactically or not. They have to utilise the talent that they have, and I don't think he's been great at that in his reign so far.

Agree Pete. South Africa can beat NZ if they get there ball carriers going and look to utilise turn over ball with a bit of ambition.

England
Have shown how you can rattle NZ. You can get at Aaron smith as great as he is and the NZ front row is poor with woodcock off the pace no decent hooker and franks who seems to get a hiding in internationals since the law changes. Although expect tamufeina to be at 3

Falcons get penalty

Small goes to TMO

TMO awards penalty to Saracens

Small then changes mind and gives it too Falcons.

Small a horrendous ref. Franks a poor 3. Can't scrum so why pick him?

Only looked good with thorn behind him. Worst th out of top8 teams in world. Had hidings like no other th since laws changed. The lack of hit across the line has ended his career at int lev. Ben Alexander
Much better in scrum

Farrell/Ford

They're the incumbents. They know the drills, players and have been around the squad for a while now.

I think Cips is a poor defender and runs side ways too often. I don't think he fits into what SL is building either i.e. Team players, lack of ego.

In the wet Cips been great. You thought Farrell was poor pooly and billy v so have to question your judgement. Farrell in particular is best young 10 in world.

If you had a World Cup quarter final this year then you would have Cips back up ten ahead of ford who is another player you run down.

Farrell is likely to miss 1st test as will be in prem final, and potentially Ford could as well, so who is next on the list?

I can only think of Cips or Myler, and Cipriani would be my choice of those two.

Burns has been woeful and Flood is out in the cold.

Players develop, you can only call what you see. You say Cruden isn't a top 10 FH which is comical.

Billy V was massively unfit, Sarries have developed him into best 8 in England. Farrell still has attacking issues but he's coming along.

Ford has his flaws but he's improved at Bath. He's 2nd choice and knows the squad/plays.

Cipriani is a poor defender and lateral runner. It doesn't get shown up to much in AP but I don't rate him. I don't like his fan fare either, he's toxic.

Odds are against Bath making it so I'd go with Ford and 36 as back up. Myler would be ahead of Cips for me, I wouldn't have Cips near the Saxons never mind the full squad.

I like Myler and he has paid his dues but on current form and ability I would give Cips the nod.

Have to reward form and also show the England side not a closed shop.

Chaps see this link below a few of us have some players banned for a week.

Shame for bird he has been great of late and a real handful

I would have heartily agreed re him being toxic until the last year or
So.
Has really turned it around according to diamond and Lancaster.

Gavin Henson has even turned it around.
All the bath fans and players love him now and he is playing well.

Pooly have you watched Cipriani play this season? Definitely wouldn't question his defence or sideways running anymore.

Diamond has done a great job with him this year, he's got him playing for the team and he doesn't shirk away from tackles. He was unreal against Exeter on Saturday - he might not be as defensively sound as Farrell, but he can do things with the ball that Farrell couldn't in a million years.

Only issue I would have with him is that maybe he chips the ball a bit too much, but easily been the best no10 in the AP this year, would have him back at Wasps in an instant.

I wouldn't have an opinion on him if I hadn't seen him play Chris.

He's improved but I don't rate him, he's a ticking bomb. I don't want that type of player involved with England.

Henson is the same but he's just poor.

Always been an Absolute scum bag but apparently turned the corner. See Guscott and a few others in rugby paper waxing lyrical over how good he has been. Looks a bit lighter which helps. Always been a nails defender just a complete prat of a bloke

Hasn't he only started 2/3 games for them? I heard he was good last game or 2 but he's generally been poor and likely to find that level again. He's a waste of space.

You are pretty desperate for a 12 though, he might do a job.

Henson has been great for Bath this year, done well to get another year deal - must be the first club he has stayed at for more than 1 season since Sarries! Been a lot of positive press stories about him recently and how good he has been for youngsters at the club and the Bath fans really like him.

Wonder how good a player he could have been if he didnt let it all go to his head early on.

A huge talent. Only 31 and can have a big effect of those talented bath youngsters. Has gotten stronger as season has progressed. 2 nd choice to eastmond but great back up.

Did not realise Cips is only 26. Thought he must be 30

31 and only 2 AP starts all season behind England's 3/4th choice 12 is hardly screaming quality player imo.

Him and Cips are toxic type players, not a fan. Henson especially is awful but probably better than your other 12's Matt.

He's a real prospect prop. has played the last two games at 7, but the plan is for him to continue to work on his hooking and throwing over the summer and move back to the front row for next season.

I'm confident that we will be better next year than we have for the past two seasons. I don't expect us to be challenging for the play offs, but I think we'll be in that mid table group fighting for 6/7/8/9th place.

Hopefully he makes a good hooker as after paice our other options arent great. Mayhew is average and jimmy stevens is awful. Agree with pete on us next season, 7th is a possibility. We have signed a decent super rugby fly half as well.

If you moulded Mayhew and Stevens into one, the result would be decent enough, because Stevens throws well but can't scrummage and Mayhew scrums well and can't throw for Poopie.

I think stevens just struggles all round. Especially in thr scrum. Too small as well. Mayhew has the size and can scrum but cant hit his man at lineout.

I would mate. of all our youngsters him and Fowlie are the two with the most potential. Ellis could go on and be an international class hooker if he can nail the basics, as he is a monster around the park and quality at the breakdown.

Tables and budgets updated.
Hoping my points deductions earlier in the season don't prove costly!

I'd be feeling a lot more comfortable had I not had 3 points deductions as well.

Although on a positive note, it's feet up for my guys this week whilst play off rivals Tigers, Sale and Saints are in Heineken Cup action, and Gloucester are in the Amlin semis as well.
