World Cup vs Wimbledon
World Cup vs Wimbledon
Two great sporting events on the same month, an absolute cracker, but where did you priorities stay?
It was so difficult for me to switch between Federer match Serena Match and the World Cup, eventually decided to stay with the world cup but following the scores of Federer's match and Serena's match.
Some great matches tomorrow all day , where will your priority lie? now don't lie.![Very Happy](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_biggrin.png)

Re: World Cup vs Wimbledon
For me at the moment World cup is winning hands down coz of rise of underdogs, so unfortunate to see Mexico lose with 6 minute to go in the clock, and very unfortunate for Chile to lose against Brazil in Brazil on penalities.
But my team Costa Rica [Coz I have bet Costa Rica to win the World Cup outright 150 times odds at $35 = $5250] survived a 10 man to win in penalties.
Unless NK rise to challenge and give me something special against Rafa, this Wimbledon has been a disappointment from the underdogs.

I will watch Tennis with FIFA on Mobile scores. Got to watch NED-MEX and CRC-GRE today.
GRE missed too many chances. I think NED should win this.

You seem very convinced, Beta. Admire your support for the under-dogs.
My prediction is GER-ALG, SUI-BEL.

Re: World Cup vs Wimbledon
I normally prefer tennis to soccer but not during a World Cup. If it is Germany vs France and Federer vs Nadal or Andy vs Nole on Friday, tennis will be taking a back-seat, and I will follow scores only while watching soccer. Of course, tennis is likely to take more than 90 minutes, so I will likely get to watch some of that too ![Wink](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_wink.gif)

Yea for the first time tennis is taking back seat for soccer in my case, can't believe Wimbledon is going on and we are focusing on World Cup, but World cup credit it has been one of the best and damn interesting matches.
@LF, how about if I tip US to beal Belgium

Re: World Cup vs Wimbledon
football wins hands down. If there is a big-4 match up in the semi final I might watch it. I will probably watch the final. World cup I watch things like Bosnia-Iran. I would have watched Dimitrov-Dolgopolov if I'd known about it before, but that's all. I don't think I have watched 5 minutes of tennis so far. I didn't find out Nadal was playing Rosol again until I saw the highlights. For a minute I thought I was watching a clip from last year.

Suarez did not play against Costa Rica.invisiblecoolers wrote:Costa Rica not only F'ed the Italy but also Uruguay and Suarez
But I think we are agreeing on the substance - out of the group with Italy, England and Uruguay, Costa Rica was guaranteed to advance with one match to spare. If anyone had suggested before the WC this would happen, I would have thought they were smoking some really potent stuff.

True, even the guy who generally predict the underdog chances didn't see this coming, but guess what I did bet Costa Rica to beat or draw Uruguay and when they beat Uruguay from 0-1 down to 3-1 I was amazed, so I did fancy their chances against Italy and made a wealth out of these 2 matches but lost them in England match as I bet quite a few bucks at 5.00 odds for them to win England, with England fielding B team I thought Costa Rica would win by handsome margin but the draw costed me
![Sad](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_sad.gif)
Against Greece had they won 1-0 I would have pocked $200 for a meagre $20 bet, damn Costa Rica conceded the goal last minute.
Back to the thread topic, die hard tennis fans are propelling the Wimbledon fame in the poll.

Nice article IC
I have to give Wimby the edge, simply because the fab four are playing pretty fab plus one or two newcomers have made the event. Good to see Dimi being consistent as well
And footie's supposed to be my No.1 sport!!!
The World Cup has been great as well

Re: World Cup vs Wimbledon
It depends on what both sports are offering at the time.
Say for example tennis has a mouth-watering clash on around 5pm (UK Time) and Word Cup has a mundane match then tennis wins. Vice versa applies as in if we get a match in tennis that doesn't look entertaining whilst we have an evenly matched exciting game in World Cup then football wins out. The 9pm kick-off matches you can watch anyway (in UK) as tennis has all but finished for the day.

It was heart breaking to see Swiz lose in the 2nd extra time with 3 minutes in the clock, and that too the came so close to equalizer with seconds left in the clock when the header hit the post, how sad.

@iC... NED is through. Two fantastic saves by NED. Feel bad for CRC, but someone had to go through. Good decision by NED to replace their goalie in the last minute of extra time.

Incredible call to make, really. Tactical masterstroke?
Feel bad for CR but Holland deserved the win, great pens too. Shame Krul had to get in the faces of the opposition though, extremely poor sportsmanship.

Re: World Cup vs Wimbledon
Can I politely disagree with you, Reckoner? Some of the LatAm teams are equally bad. I saw Robben brought down a couple of times when he beat CRC players with sheer speed.
@Silver... Krul was doing his job of pre-shot intimidation (Navas was free to do that as well, right, but he chose to pray at the corner of the penalty box instead), and I do agree it was tactically a fantastic decision.

Had Costa Rica won the World Cup I would have made $3500 for a bet of just $35 , but anyways that was not a loss, according to Bet365 if the my outright team is eliminated in penalities they money back garuntee, so I got my $35 but felt bad for Costa Rica to lose this way.
@BanBro, finally we got somebody who being a footie fan decided to give Wimbledon more preference .

Hey laverfan - I'm not saying the LatAm's play is clean far from it! That's what I meant - the semi against Argentina is going to be crazy because both play very dirty.
Johan Cruyff (Dutch footballing legend) in 2010:
'Sadly, they played very dirty,' said Cruyff. 'So much so that they should have been down to nine immediately, then they made two (such) ugly and hard tackles that even I felt the damage.
'Holland chose an ugly path to aim for the title. This ugly, vulgar, hard, hermetic, hardly eye-catching, hardly football style, yes it served the Dutch to unsettle Spain. If with this they got satisfaction, fine, but they ended up losing. They were playing anti-football.'
He added: 'What you cannot do is create your own sense of justice and, even worse, invent a very personal application of the rules.'
