Good interview with Larry Holmes which is a good listen if anyone is interested. He speaks about employing people in boxing, his fights with Ali and Tyson and also that if he could do it all again he wouldn't have a promoter and would instead promote himself.

Saw the Ringside special a few months back with him and he seems a good guy.

Yeh, the Ringside special was good.

Not sure about being able to promote himself though. What would've been his hook? He had no amateur pedigree or success, how would he have generated early interest in himself?

Need a promoter for that early recognition.

Yeah I tend to agree. Perhaps it's one of those things that if you knew then what you know now.
