Punchers.
Stuck in barracks this weekend, I'd hoped V2 would provide some entertainment, sadly it's quiet.
Anyway, punchers...It must be hard for punchers who are accustomed to early KO's to be extended. In a way they seldom get the opportunity to develop 'championship fitness', similar to a pre---season footballer who lacks 'match fitness'.
I'm keen to learn about fighters because I don't watch as much boxing as I should.
Are there many one punch KO fighters (i mean truly concussive punchers) who have great stamina. In general, I think, If you are truly concussive puncher you have to conserve energy (especially if you can't land, or in against an iron chin) as it takes a lot of effort to deliver the power blow. Knowing this, do sensible punchers conserve energy? Do they limit movement? Do they throw less and wait for an opening? Who are the examples?
Conversely, which punchers fail to conserve energy, go all out, and failing to get the KO generally lose because they run out of steam.

Re: Punchers.
I don't think there'd be an awful lot. From a physiological point of view, big bitters are more likely to be blessed with Type 2 muscle fibres. Which are more explosive and lead lead to greater power output. They however use more ATP, and fatigue quicker, so it stands to reason that big punchers (the concussive ones) have a time limit regarding how long they can keep hitting big for. Just my thoughts .

From that particular physiological perspective, I have to agree raf. Though Maidana seems to do alright for the majority of a fight.
Something to think about...
I'm pretty certain Rugby League players have plenty of type two and they can be explosive all match. Yes they rest at times but so does a fighter, be it in between rounds or lulls in action.
Some fighters seem to have a finite store store of energy which doesn't replenish no matter how much they rest.
'Conservational' tactics are key, no matter what the sport.

Re: Punchers.
Gonna put a couple of non-controversial names in there: Louis and Marciano. Both known for their power, iced folks late.
Of the modern guys, Matthysse looks a hard one to outlast while possessing a one shot leveller in each hand.

Chavez as well, more noted as a pressure fighter but did possess devastating power too as Haugen found out very quickly.

Too proud for his own good, internal bleeding after a couple of rounds and it just escalated from there.

Re: Punchers.
So truly concussive punchers with high a work rate and stamina are the exception rather than the rule.

Re: Punchers.
Any boxer exceptional at anything is the exception rather than the rule fingers, Jones didn't struggle over 12 rounds but carried concussive power.
