A-Z (D)
Evening all,
Next instalment of the A-Z. This time 'D'.
So again the premise is to maybe tell stories, something interesting or just an opinion on some of the boxers, promoters, venues, boxing related cities, anything boxing related really that maybe doesn't get talked about too regularly on the forum. I come on here to get an education as much as anything so all thoughts are much appreciated.
So some ideas for 'D' (i.e. ones I'd like to know more about!)
George Dixon
Terry Downes
Jack "Nonpareil" Dempsey
Juan Diaz
Jack Dupree
Cheers

Re: A-Z (D)
George Dixon boxed more world championship rounds than any other boxer using the older, more hoary theories of some boxing historians (think if you don't subscribe to their notions it's either Emile Griffith or Miguel Canto, although Hopkins must be close?)
Terry Downes is Britain's oldest surviving world champion. He also served in the US Marines and even represented the States in a couple of amateur contests before his real nationality was discovered.
