First topic message reminder :

Quite enjoyed rec 3 although it's not really much to do with the first 2 films.

If it had been a standalone film, I think the critical response would have been better. For me it was really entertaining.

I'm intrigued, what are the "true demands of a sniper"?

I thought the film was decent, I'd give it 7/10.
Still intrigued.......

Miller's Crossing.

All of the ones mentioned and throw in A Bronx Tale as well.

I thought A Bronx Tale was ok, but though De-Niro was almost trying to copy Goodfellas.

Bit of a fan of the genre so these are some I would recommend

Goodfellas
Mean Streets
La Scorta
Angels with Dirty Faces
Godfather 1 and 2
Once Upon a Time in America
City of God
Infernal Affairs
Mesrine
State of Grace

Chris Kyle was no sniper, he was given targets and neutralised them, he wasn't ever in harms way or in the vicinity of the enemy.

You do talk some crap. Chris Kyle was not a sniper???? Not in harms way either???? You do know during four tours of duty in Iraq, Kyle was shot twice & survived six separate IED explosions

Welcome back, Liam.

City of God is fantastic, Miky, so much so that I ignored my usual hatred of people speaking one of the many wrong languages of the world.

With Kennedy assassinations such a popular topic of debate on this forum, I suggest watching the 2006 film Bobby. I really, really enjoyed it, and I'm happy I watched it before Rowley or ONETWO had the chance to point out any plot-holes or illuminati in the film's portrayal.

Good use of Wikipedia there, copied it word for word, I myself do not consider Chris Kyle a sniper.

Surely you need to give people a little more than that HH. That is like me saying Lionel Messi is not a footballer, and when you ask me to explain myself me saying I don't consider him one. It's not explaining, it is just saying the same thing with slightly different words.

Mainly boils down to modern warfare Rowley, it has so much that a Sniper is obsolete, Chris Kyle received too much intel about everything and he didn't need to think for himself. It was the most specialised role in the military whereas it is merely target practice now and I found him a repulsive human being who took pleasure in killing.

Are you for real? Received too much Intel? Didn't have to think for himself? Are you serious??? This isn't Call of Duty you know, it's real life, your life or theirs......surely theres no such thing as "too much Intel?????" Didn't have to think for himself?????

How do you know he took pleasure in killing? From the book and the film it's pretty obvious he struggled with the act of ending someone's life every time he pulled the trigger.......unless he was 100% his target was an enemy.

Have you actually met him?  In real life, not in your mind?

And this is coming from someone who wrote;

Hammersmith harrier wrote: I don't have empathy for anyone

They are not made up, they are your words.

How do you know all those veterans you supposedly put up in housing didn't take pleasure in killing?  All the serviceman who have benefited from your charitable donations that you couldn't wait to tell us about (nothing like donating to charity and then telling people all about it, I can just see that altruism dripping out of your pores) didn't take pleasure in killing?  Are they all repulsive?

You're a father, right?  I hope you bring your kids up to have a bit of empathy for those less fortunate than you.  At least give your kids a chance to grow into decent humans.

Remind me how we know Chris Kyle's name. oh yeah because he couldn't keep his mouth shut and wanted to profit from his kill count, I think the guy was a prat and couldn't give a f*ck Tino whether you like that opinion or not.

I'm about as altruistic as everyone who was so quick to say they'd house a refugee when they would do no such thing.

So you haven't met him then. Thanks for clearing that up.

Keep up those charitable donations, flower.

For a boy with no empathy, you sure are empathetic.

Well Hammersmith, let's hope we never see the day when your country is engulfed in war, I take it you'll be telling the snipers they're not needed, or campaigning for them to not have "too much Intel"

Sorry to open your eyes, but ground forces are still a major part of war, of which snipers still play a major role.

I don't even know why Carell shot Ruffalo.

I watched Avengers Age of Ultron...I think he was either one or two days old.

The film itself was good by virtue of not having that simpering tart Gwyneth Paltrow in it. I also enjoyed watching Chris Pine as Captain America thinking, "Didn't I already make this film as 'Fantastic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer'?"

When I seen the trailor for that it looked like it could be promising. Unfortunately the actual film was woeful apart from that Genesis Rodriguez (I think its her) bit (you know what am talking about). I think the scene at the end when there all in the bar summed it up for me.

Watched 'No Escape' yesterday, was a good tense, thrilly film about a guy who had moved to Thailand or somewhere, and had to protect his family from a bloody coup. 7.5/10

It was slightly ruined by a pair of c*nts who wouldn't stop talking loudly and acting the tool in the cinema furious

Avoid The Breakfast Club Jeff - not one of them eats anything at all.

Avoid Trainspotting too. Not an ounce of trainspotting in sight, no admiration for any carriages... The characters rode a train once and that is as close as it got. In the build up towards the film's climax they were required to go from Edinburgh to London, but opted to get the coach which was disappointing.

He was decent, up until Clash of the Titans. His career has arguably been on a downward trajectory ever since. COTT and its sequel were god awful movies too.

Too much 'Eastenders' whispering from Sam.  Find his speaking voice and then come back for a second bite of the cherry.

But I wouldn't blame him for Man on a Ledge!

No, no, no.   I'd blame whoever it was that thought the rushes were good enough to keep out of a bin, and the editor that thought they were good enough to join up into a film, and Ed Harris for breaking my heart by taking the money and selling his soul to garbage.  He's been in garbage before but at least ate his way through the stuff.  This time he's laughing.

SPY - Hollywood tubster Melissa McCarthy is forced to go undercover to track down baddies looking to sell a nuclear device to the highest bidder. Much hilarity ensues....
