Stevenson vs Bika - April 4, 2015. Chavez Jr. vs Fonfara April 18, 2015

Adonis Stevenson will defend his Linear/WBC light heavyweight titles against former WBC supper middleweight champion Sakio Bika in Montreal.

2 weeks later Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will face Andrzej Fonfara at light heavyweight. Forfara pushed Stevenson pretty hard when they fought in 2014, so no push over for Chavez Jr.

Haymon could be lining up Stevenson vs Chavez Jr. for later in 2015. I bet the warrior for Nottingham will be gutted that his cash cow has bolted.

It is an interesting fight. Fonfara gave Stevenson quite the scare last year. But he gave him a scare in part because he could hurt him. I don't think he can hurt Chavez. Not sure Chavez can do too much damage to him mind

And never let it be said that Stevenson doesn't want to take on the big guns in the division...ahem!

It's not quite Kovalev, but he will know he's in a fight against Bika at least. Maybe he can use that big power and put him away.

Not the most exciting fight, but bika is awkward and tough... Never been stopped. I guess there's mild intrigue in whether stevenson can be the first. Don't imagine it's the cause of much salivating to boxing fans outside of Montreal.

It's certainly a strange world where the two standout boxers in a division are no closer to fighting despite at least one saying he'll take the fight and the other saying he'd beat his man easily.

One of them wants the right price..........perhaps..

On the basis he'd definitely make more money fighting Kov than Bika, "waiting for the right price" can only mean "I know I'm going to lose/am scared I'm likely to lose, therefore I need a big pay-off to take the fight and handover my belt(s)". Like Fury and Haye. Fury gave up a chance at being a Wlad mandatory but £5m from Haye, even though he was likely to lose, was more money than he'd get anywhere else.

If you actively avoid your #1 contender, whilst calling yourself #1/TBE or whatever, than you will (quite rightly) get stick for it. Why? Because the only people you've beaten, and the people you're choosing to fight instead, are nowhere near as good as the one you're avoiding.

Beating a hype job didn't turn Maidana great over-night (only Flomos believe that) and Dawson is the only win that sets Superduck's record apart from Kovs.

I'm not fussed on either of them to be honest Truss (bit like May and Pac) once it gets to a point that a fights been swerved a few times then I lose interest. (Although if i'm up i'll watch Kovalev, Stevenson not a chance)

Because Frampton came right out and said what had happened and why he wouldn't take the fight, Stevenson moved management and then tv stations and kept schtumm about it, and while we as boxing fans keep letting them make excuses then it's never gonna happen.

(Although at a time when a Clev/Bellew PPV is a success we're pretty much doomed anyway)

Well Stevenson is going to be a bitterly disappointed man as he's got a very inflated opinion of his worth with is drastically at odds with everyone else's...or at least that of those who will sign his cheque

Stevenson got offered more for Fonfara (Showtime) than for Kovalev (HBO)

Standards are slipping if we're using that as a barometer of quality. My gran was the mandatory challenger at cruiser last year, but inactivity caused by being dead for 11 years means that she's slipped down the rankings.
