If Cotto was active, at all, I'd have no qualms with giving him until his next fight, after all this is his first defence. The problem is Cotto fights like once a year, so what you're really saying then, is give him until sometime next year. Kind of shows why boxing can't get a foothold in the mainstream when the champion in one of the most storied divisions in boxing history can basically go two years before fighting someone who gets the pulse racing. Wonder how long we'd have to wait before Novak Djokovic faces off against Nadal or Federer.

Real catch 22 for me as this is the only comment I disagree with at which point I can't disagree with it.

Why so many upset with Cotto? bcuz he has only a couple of fights lereft in him and has earned the right to take a gimmie fight if he wants.

Hes pretty strong physically despite not being a huge lightmiddle and isnt particularly powerful either, not quite sure what at the age of 41 he can do to upset cotto. If GGG doesnt happen afte rthis he should ditch middle and fight canelo before one of them gets beat and the hype goes out the window a la Gamboa vs Lopez
