Paul Wellens, St. Helens has announced his retirement from playing earlier today.

Congratulations on a great career, Man of Steel, Lance Todd Trophy winner (x 2) numerous winners medals and other awards following 495 appearances for Saints (his only club) and International caps.

Interesting fact, he has never used an agent to negotiate a contract through his career.

Good luck in your new role, coaching at Saints. Tremendous competitor on the field, gentleman off it.
