At the first FedEx Cup playoff event it's only fitting that the Fantasy League also needed a playoff to determine the overall winner of the Barclays.  AlciG and SetupDetermines finished tied as both picked Jason Day and Sangmoon Bae.  AlciG also picked another sixth placed finisher in Daniel Summerhays while SetupDetermines had ninth placed Dustin Johnson and just like that it was over.  An inspired late morning substiution of Tony Finau for Kevin Na was the foundation of AlciG's success, without that change SetupDetermines would have run away with the win.

Sand, like AlciG, had four picks score points and despite not having Jason Day was able to keep up with those that did.  I'm Never Wrong and TheCleaver had three picks score points.  A whole host of Fantasy Leaguers, 1GrumpyGolfer, Beninho, BlueCoverman, Davie, EmmDee57, Kwinigolfer, McLaren, Owen10ozzy, Pedro, Raycastleunited, SirBenson, and Super_Realist had two picks of wildy varying quality score points.  CJB, Hibbz, Kouchi, LadyPutt, and RedRage had just the one pick score points.  

Jason Day shot 62 on his way to a commanding victory while Fabian Gomez shot 78 for the worst round of the day.  Russell Henley finished last.

The opening round of the FedEx playoffs see the tour return to Plainfield Country Club.  Purely for selfish reasons I hope that they will get get all 72 holes in this year as the previous visit in 2011 saw the tournament cut short due to the impending arrival of hurricane Irene.  Hunter Mahan is the defending Barclays champion and Dustin Johnson is the defending Plainfield champion.  

Mahan is the only player to have teed it up for all 32 playoff events and he's the only one to have made the Tour Championship every year.  Phil Mickelson and Brandt Snedeker broke their streak last year.  Former playoff event winners Adam Scott, Nick Watney, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Heath Slocum, and Vijay Singh are all playing.  Padraig Harrington is the only former champion from prior to the playoffs.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

A very mixed bag of scoring for the pros and Fantasy Leaguers alike.  Four players shot 65 to tie for the lead, three were picks, and five players shot 78 to prop up the leaderboard, again, three were picks.

Sand had one of the low round shooters, another in the top 5, and one of the worst round scorers.  Kwinigolfer had three of his picks score points for being in the top 5 while both Owen10ozzy and Pedro had a low round scorer and a top 5 scorer.  AlciG had both good and bad with a low round scorer and a worst round scorer.  Hibbz had two picks in the top 5 while McLaren also had one of the low round scorers.  Kouchi had a top five scorer and one of the worst round scorers.  1GrumpyGolfer, BlueCoverman, Davie, Eyetoldyouso, LadyPutt, Raycastleunited, RedRage, SetupDetermines, SirBenson, and Super_Realist all had a top 5 scorer.  Beninho is off the mark thanks to one of the worst round scorers.  CJB, EmmDee57, I'm Never Wrong, and TheCleaver are still to get off the mark.

Bubba Watson, Camilo Villegas, Spencer Levin, and Tony Finau all shot 65 for the low round.  David Lingmerth, Hunter Mahan, Ian Poulter, John Huh, and William McGirt all shot 78 for the worst round.  66 was low enough to make the top 5 low round scores.

I wish I did... I had a good feeling about Finau and wanted to switch him with Horschel. Last second I decided switch out Na instead.

Carnage at Plainfield for the Fantasy Leaguers.  40% of picks fell by the wayside and some big names were trunk slamming and making an early start for Boston.  Cut bonuses were almost as rare as rocking horse droppings; only eight Fantasy Leaguers earned a bonus.  Three, Hibbz, Kwinigolfer, and Super_Realist, have seven picks left and all earned two cut bonuses.  It's not surprising that all three are at or near the top of the leaderboard.  Another three, EmmDee57, McLaren, and SetupDetermines all have six picks left; out of this trio only EmmDee57 earned a bonus.  Beninho, Davie, Pedro, Sand, and TheCleaver all have five picks left and Davie, Pedro, and TheCleaver earned a bonus.  1GrumpyGolfer, AlciG, BlueCoverman, Eyetoldyouso, I'm Never Wrong, LadyPutt, Owen10ozzy, Raycastleunited, and SirBenson all have four picks left.  From this group Owen10ozzy was the only one to earn a bonus.  CJB and RedRage both have three picks left and Kouchi has just the two picks left.

Jason Bohn shot 64 for the round of the day.  Matt Every shot 79 for the worst round of the day.  The cut line fell at +2.

Ten players shot 66 or lower to fill out the top 10 low round scores. Seven of those players were picks and plenty of points were handed out for round three. Significant moves came from Super_Realist and SetupDetermines. Both had three picks score and they're now tied for the lead and tied for fifth respectively. Several Fantasy Leaguers, 1GrumpyGolfer, AlicG, Beninho, Davie, EmmDee57, I'm Never Wrong, LadyPutt, McLaren, and Pedro, had two picks score. While lots of Fantasy Leaguers, BlueCoverman, CJB, Eyetoldyouso, Hibbz, Kouchi, Kwinigolfer, Raycastleunited, RedRage, Sand, and TheCleaver, all had one pick score.

Carlos Ortiz shot 62 for the low round of the day while Russell Henley shot 76 for the worst round of the day.

At the first FedEx Cup playoff event it's only fitting that the Fantasy League also needed a playoff to determine the overall winner of the Barclays. AlciG and SetupDetermines finished tied as both picked Jason Day and Sangmoon Bae. AlciG also picked another sixth placed finisher in Daniel Summerhays while SetupDetermines had ninth placed Dustin Johnson and just like that it was over. An inspired late morning substiution of Tony Finau for Kevin Na was the foundation of AlciG's success, without that change SetupDetermines would have run away with the win.

Sand, like AlciG, had four picks score points and despite not having Jason Day was able to keep up with those that did. I'm Never Wrong and TheCleaver had three picks score points. A whole host of Fantasy Leaguers, 1GrumpyGolfer, Beninho, BlueCoverman, Davie, EmmDee57, Kwinigolfer, McLaren, Owen10ozzy, Pedro, Raycastleunited, SirBenson, and Super_Realist had two picks of wildy varying quality score points. CJB, Hibbz, Kouchi, LadyPutt, and RedRage had just the one pick score points.

Jason Day shot 62 on his way to a commanding victory while Fabian Gomez shot 78 for the worst round of the day. Russell Henley finished last.
