RWC Competition 2019

First topic message reminder :

All the pool games now added so please continue to post your predictions prior to all kick offs or you won't score in that match.

Just checking if there is an appetite to have a RWC competition similar to our normal 6Ns one? Same rules which I copy below. I am happy to run this, but if someone else who has done it before has a desire to run it I will happily stand aside??

1) Each week you will be asked to predict the scores from that weekend's games. All predictions must be made before the start of the games.

2) You will be get points depending on how close you are to the actual score. Points will be awarded in the following way:-
- You will get 20 points for getting the correct match outcome.
- You will get 10 points for getting a teams score correct.
- You will lose one of those 10 points for every point you are away from a teams score. Therefore you must be with 10 points of a teams score to gain points.
- If you get a match score spot on you will be awarded with double points. So if the correctly predict a match's score you will receive a maximum 80 points.

Example:-
Your prediction - Ireland 17-31 Wales
Actual result - Ireland 25-31 Wales
Your score 32 points

You would receive 20 points for correctly predicting Wales to win. As you were 8 points off Ireland's score you get 2 points for that and another 10 points for getting Wales' score spot on.

We probably need to cut off the entries pretty soon here lads as the score for the first match is getting a little easy to predict as the first match progresses.

Good shout. A lot of people seemed to have Russia on 10 as it happens, including myself (33-10).

Personally thought Japan were better by a bigger margin, but the weather might be a leveller.

Unfortunately not. But if Uruguay lied to Bill Beaumont to get him to prorogue the tournament until the 14th October to cement their third place, we'd have to get Lady Hale on the phone.

The correct analogy is using the courts to allow the citing committee to review an on field decision by the ref.

Thankfully not how rugby works...and thankfully, a democratic system isn't decided by how many points you score over 80 minutes.

Scores on the doors up to and including the Wales V Georgia match. I will include all matches post that one at some point (it was more work than i relaised:roll: ). Please do check your own scores as human error could be a factor and any issues then please PM me and I will double check/correct. A long way to go and getting a complete match bang on really makes a difference, which is what EBOP did - congrats there on the opening match.

Quick question: what happens if one picks a draw (and the result is a win) - is it just the points off the 10 maximum possible from the actual scores of each team if applicable?
