Re: Scotland WC Chat - Part Deux
We don't want Rennie. The Glasgow bias is already killing us....
Hard to think of a top coach who would be within reach, especially one with international experience.
On the plus side I think we'll win tomorrow with a bonus point, and do the same against Russia. As for Japan, utterly terrified!!

Re: Scotland WC Chat - Part Deux
Lots of doom and gloom here. Let’s remember we lost to one of the WC top seeded sides in a pool game that means very little. Same when we lost to SA in the pool stages last time under Vern. We went on to do well that year. Ireland however have just lost to a side considerably lower ranked than themselves and are not happy about that at all.. Tomorrow will work out fine as long as no-one loses their heads (either receiving or making an over enthusiastic tackle). We can manage opponents who play in the Japanese style, we cannot manage those who stifle and absorb (Wal/Ire/SA). For that reason I’d rather meet NZ in the quarters than others. We’ll know a lot more tomorrow.

Re: Scotland WC Chat - Part Deux
Lots of sense there Mr Road, consider yourself on a yellow card.
For some reason I struggled to sleep last night. Hmmm.
We win today and then suffer the agonies of worrying about do we dare rest players v Russia.
More sleepiness nights.

Re: Scotland WC Chat - Part Deux
I doubt they would have foreseen Japan beating the Irish though, that changed everything. If they'd lost to Ireland 11-13 points would have done it. Now we're in 13-15 territory. Which is very much a different kettle of fish.

Re: Scotland WC Chat - Part Deux
Quick question fellow Scotland fans. Thinking of buying a long sleeved Scotland shirt from the store. I noticed Macron sizes seem a bit smaller than average. I am usually a Medium but they say their medium is for
172cm-177cm tall gents. I’m 180. Anyone noticed the sizes being a bit smaller than you’d expect?

Macron strips are tiny. Ignore whatever size you currently are and go for 1-2 sizes bigger.

Relatively good news on Hamish Watson's injury - he should be back around December.
Could have been so much worse! Should mean he's fully fit in time for the 6N.

Well lads I’m back in the UK after an amazing trip, and very much not looking forward to being back in work. Wonderful country, and the RWC was a brilliant experience. The locals could not have been lovelier and watching the japan win against Ireland surrounded by Japanese fans in the pub was something I won’t forget in a hurry!
Also, it’s fecking freezing over here! Been used to 30 degrees and serious humidity!

Welcome back Llama. What was the feeling like in Japan after the Scotland Ireland game? Was everyone as doom and gloom as we were?

There were some very unhappy Scots around. So imagine how you lot were feeling but with the added kick in the nuts of having paid a fortune to travel to the other side of the world to witness it!
Also it was absolutely pissing with rain at that point so the journey back to Tokyo in dripping wet kilts wasn’t a barrel of laughs either!

Reminds me of the Scotland-Argentina game in Wellington in 2011, although that was baltic and not humid at all. I was soaked through all game and had to trudge back into the City in a monsoon.
Parks missing the late drop goal didn't help!

Pretty even so far - Japan look very dangerous at times but just not making the final breakthrough.
I think territory is going to be key for us against them - we can't play too much in our half.

Samoa are an absolute mob. There is no discipline or structure. Team of individuals just wanting to run hard into things.
We could do with them stopping Japan scoring 4 tries though

Unless Japan step up the pace and pull away in the final twenty I can't see them getting the bonus point.

No doubting Japan deserve it but that free kick decision was a farce - both teams has done the same all game.

Re: Scotland WC Chat - Part Deux
I always try to look on the bright side but I can’t see us beating Japan with 4 tries and stopping them getting a BP also.
Toonie will go but it means we need to start building again which means we’re wasting our golden crop of players yet again.

Better to cut toonie now rather than when it's too late. Our key players still have a WC cycle in them, I just hope they don't peak like Ireland. I think as bad as it is being a Scotland fan, it must be nearly as frustrating being an ireland fan!

If we do get the result (unlikely) we will also be the most hated team in the tournament, by neutrals too!

Nonsense. Ireland have beaten the blacks and won Grandslams
We’ve had a plucky couple of halves against England.
