2011 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

It will be interseting to see who misses out on the world championships through this painful and sudden death type method of tream selection.

the USA championships are always incredibly tough, it's amazing what depth they can get in certain events. Don't have time to look at that site right now, but shall peruse it later on when I've escaped from work...

Impressive runs over in the US trials.

Ivory Williams - 9.95/Mike rodges - 9.95s. Tyson Gay - 10.01s. Jeff Demps 10.04s.

Am very excited at what Demps will achieve this year. But fully expect Tyson to walk away with the title, in low 9.7s territory.

Gatlin was looking good too.

I hope tyson remains injury free. Will be a great showdown in deagu if the main contendera are all 100%. To me he looks more focussed on the title than chasing diamond leagues and times throughout the season.

Tyson Gay is injured and has not qualified for the US team for Daegu. Sounds like a hip injury, he did not start the 100m semi final. He will not compete for the 200m. He may still get selected for the 4x100m. Shocking stuff. Again the US team selection method needs to be reviewed... or does it???

Anyway, Walter Dix won the 100m final in 9.94s, Just Gatlin 2nd in 9.95s and then Mike Rodgers in 9.99s. Wind +1.3m/s.

Another huge shocker in the US trials. Wallace Spearmon has not qualified for the mens 200m.

David Oliver won the hurdles in 13.04s. Aries Merrit 2nd in 13.12s. winds +1.4m/s.

Mens 400m: Tony Quay 44.68s 1st and Wariner came 2nd in 44.98s.

Clement is defending champ, so has a bye - he just needed to compete in the trials, rather than place

Lolo Jones out of the team also. 12.81 for 3rd place in her semi-final and did not go through as fastest loser. She looked better in the first round running 12.73 to win her heat.

Lolo sure does know how to disappoint.

Terence Trammel just missed a spot in the US team. He finished 4th in the 110m hurdles final in 13.16. This ends his run of 9 consecutive USA team spots in Worlds and Olympics. Fantastic athlete but mostly received silver for his efforts.
