Diamond Leage - Luasanne Empty Lausanne Diamond League

Can't seem to find a thread on this. Looking at the BBC updates and seems like a cracking meet. 9.77 for Powell in the 100m. Not too far outside his personal best (and is this the 4th or 5th time now he has run that time - I know he ran it 3 times as a world record but not sure if he had run it since). Can he do the unthinkable and win the World Title given Gay will be absent at Bolt is not yet at his best? Lemaitre is now consistently running under 10 seconds. Quite impressive.

17.91m for Teddy in the triple jump.

Great run there from Aasafa Powell in the 100m; 9.78. Powell really did go for it and as a result, put down a solid marker ( Can he hold this sort of form up against Bolt?! ). Frater second in a PB in 9.88 and lemaitre once again with another national record - 9.94.

Super run of the 110m hurdles, from Andy Turner; 13.22 (PB). And there was clearly plenty of room for improvement, which he himself pointed out. And you could believe him too. A sub-13.2 very much on the cards this year.

Great run from Dai Greene over the 400m hurdles, 48.4s. Great competitor. He is a strong contender for a medal of some kind at both Daegu and London.

Good run from Porter over the women's 100m hurdles. 3rd in 13.6s - 3.3metre per sec tailwind. The women's event is so packed with great talent and ability that 13.6 gets you 3rd LOL...

So rounded down to 9.77 for Powell. That was a superb run from Powell. Could this be his break-through year?! He really does need to do it though while up against either Bolt of Gay ( but of course, season for Gay has come to an end it seems Sad ).

Lemaitre really is beginning to shine. His poor start gave to much away. His latter 30 - 40m is very powerful. He gained enourmous amount of ground on Powell and Frater towards the end of the race. If he can improve his strats, then we have something remarkable happening...

Wow Frater ran 9.88! And he is only what current 6th fastest in his country. Although he finished way ahead of Carter today whilst Carter only slightly finished ahead of him at Jamaican trials so he has a strong argument that he is 5th (behind Bolt, Powell, Mullins, Blake). But talk about strength in depth. If Gay chooses not to run the 4x100m Jamaica's reserve relay team could even win gold (or at least give the US a very close run).

very very good for Dai Greene, winning this sort of race against two of his direct rivals for the worlds will give him great confidence. The time is pretty handy too. Also a very useful DL debut from Jack Green, who came in fourth behind the three big guns.

All in all, a good meet for the Brits, Turner will be delighted to finally get a PB, he's been knocking on that door for a while, and there's room for improvement too. If he can get that down to 13.1 or so he'll be right up there with a chance of a medal I think.

Great race in the men's 100 meters, starting to think that maybe Powell's got over his mental problems, that was a fantastic run. Should Bolt watch out? Lemaitre going from strength to strength too, if he sorts out his start then sub 9.9 is only a matter of time.

Great meeting - I am thankful that the BBC covered Luasanne, but JE & CJ can be extremely irritating. Why do they insist on speaking continuously while events are going on in the background. This was especially evident in the 3000m S/C & 5000m. Tweedledee & Tweedledum furious

Id like to see Turner get his PB down into the 13.1's. I really think that would be as low as he can go but when he does lower his PB he seems to be very good at running consistently around the same sort of time.
Id imagine that would get him into major finals certainly and an outside shot at a medal.
