Chrissie Wellington - an appreciation Empty Chrissie Wellington - an appreciation

This is not strictly pure track and field but Chrissie Wellington has just broken her own world record at the Roth long distance triathlon in Germany. She completed the course in 8hr18min13secs. This improved the record she set last year by exactly one minute. This triathlon included a 2hr44min marathon which would alone put her 13th in this year's domestic rankings. I know in the past there has been a campaign to get her nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which is unsurprising as she is an extraordinary athlete in a very specialist discipline. I just thought I'd post this as she deserves all the recognition she can get. In British women's sport perhaps only the scale of her achievement has been matched by Beryl Burton in the past.

Amazing achievement. She definitely doesn't get the coverage in the media she deserves.

Cracking and deserves more recognition. A 2:44 marathon after the swim & cycle is just incredible
