Future WWE Champions Empty Future WWE Champions

Post by grant holt's moustache Tue 26 Jul 2011, 7:17 pm

Just watching some videos on the you tube from about 2005ish and 2 people tipped to be future WWE Champions were; Kenny Dykstra and Rene Dupree. Does anybody know what went wrong for them? Rene especially was one of my faves.
Also what were you thoughts on La Resistance? I genuinly think that Rob and Sylvan were the best tag team of the last 10 years or so, I'm sure people will disagree though!
Whats your thoughts people?

I didn't watch them live but what I saw of Dykstra, he reminded me of a young Steve Austin, I still expect him to get back into the biz, Wrestlers in general don't usually peak until they're between 30-35, Kenny is still in his mid 20s, he's got plenty of time to get back on track

Its amazing to think that Dolph Ziggler has been the breakout star of the spirit Squad and not Kenny.

Future WWE champion there

I still can't believe he's a former World Champion, I like Ziggler but I still think it could go either way with him

I think he's got a great look, could easily work as either a heel or a face and is a great wrestler.

He reminds me a lot like Orton in that when they both let loose they are extremely more charasmatic but the hold it back controlled aggression they use work against them on their mic work IMO

Apparently Ziggler does and says all the right things backstage and has supporters with major political pull. He's far more likely than other midcarders to be a main eventer one day.

Kenny Dykstra had admirers in high places: No less than Bret Hart said he could be the next big thing. There are always wrestlers who look like surefire future stars who fizzle out; anyone remember Sean O'Haire?!

Chris Masters at the start of 2006 i thought was inline for massive things. Look at him now he can only just get on Superstars

The real irony there being he's now a pretty decent wrestler

Shelton Benjamin always looked just on the cusp of a main event push and onto world titles, same goes for MVP and Mr Kennedy, just never seemed to work out for any of them.

If they put enough momentum behind Masters then I could totally see him as a upper midcarder again.

He's improved tons in the last few years

Masters will never be main event level material but I have to agree that he seems to have improved a lot since his return to our screens.

It is guys like McIntyre, Riley etc that could use a credible IC/US or even Tag Team run with a feud that actually has the attention of the audience to prove themselves as being good enough to get put on a performance in the ring and have the fans enjoying what they are seeing before giving a push to main event.

I firmly believe that JoMo could be a credible champion if they just sorted out his mic skills, changed his music and start presenting him as a cocky pretty boy heel.

His music is what kills him the most atm as when it hits it doesn't get that kind of 'HOLY rudey poo IT'S HIM?!?!?!?!' reaction like Rock's, SCSA, HHH, HBK's, Brett Harts etc.

It is a massive part of getting a buzz about a wrestler heel or face, also a hair cut and a shave would not go a miss

Bobby Lashley anybody?

He was pushed to the moon in 2006, and looked dead on to become a world champion (we won't count ECW), left before it ever came about.
