Concerns about 3rd Test
Apologies to those who were thinking of starting a test match thread tomorrow but I want to discuss the third test this evening and with no available thread it's here now.
My initial worry was the very poor weather forecast with one day or more being lost to persistent rain.
Now there is the chance of civil unrest spreading to the cities in the midlands and possibly affecting this match.
I wonder how much cricket will get played this week . I'm concerned, perhaps unjustifiably. What do the rest of you think ?

Can't see what so-called civil unrest will do to a test match.
People are already dubbing this "the summer of discontent" harking back to the late 70s and the miner's strike etc.
This is nothing like that - it's just a few chancers trying to act big. Nothing political about it, just young thugs

The miner's strike was in the 80's under thatcher not the 70's.

The 81 series had riots going on distantly but that was spread out over June - July too. This is nuts to use a political term.

Re: Concerns about 3rd Test
Just to update you all, many of the various areas of Birmingham are subject to rioting and looting at this very moment. Just a mile up the road from myself the place is crawling with police and brainless morons smashing everything in sight up.
There has to be real concern as to whether the Test match will be affected now.
Also, as mentioned above, the weather could be a right oh dear, too. Hope not, as I have tickets for days 2 and 3, and as such you will miss my magnificent contributions to the official Test match thread on those days

Might log in from my phone at times to see how it's going, if I can get reception, with a 'view from the stands' update.

Hopefully it will be as long as the riots don't get massively out of order.
