USO day 12 09/09/11
First topic message reminder :
Hello homies n peeps,
Some contrasting styles to clash today
Murray V Isner - Hopefully Murray wins quickly; not sure I can endure any more of Isner (We got a lifetimes worth at W10). Murray in 3
The Nadull V A-Rod - In previous years this would have been an interesting one but today, I'm not so sure. A-Rod won't have enough steam to stay with The Nadull. The Nadull wins in four.

Isner has upped his game. Murray needs to eat into the second serve.

the guy's serving unbelievable, and has for the last two sets, Murray needs to stay with him and wait for that level to drop

Oliver Golding wins the second set in his boys QF. It is now one set all.

My links gone down. Can I assume that Isner has raised his game and Murray is still playing well?
Looks like Murray will hold his service game after facing two break points.

Didn't Golding have to play away from Flushing Meadows yesterday?
Anyway all I can say is if Andy loses this match he only has himself to blame. He had the match in his pocket and then those mental blocks crept in again coupled with Isner improving and now Isner is looking dangerous in the fourth set. Murray couldn't ask for a better opportunity to claim a semi spot so no complaints from me if he blows it. Hope I am wrong though.

This is a surprise to me because I didn't think Isner had the fitness. They are still on serve in the fourth set so this might be over quickly.

I am surprised too. My Isner fitness but more more so by Murray not being able to dictate once the ball is in play. He is way too defensive. He should force the issue and keep Isner on his toes.

Re: USO day 12 09/09/11
I do agree Tenez.
As a Murray fan that is what is soooo frustrating about him as he can play aggressively when he needs to as he has shown in this tie-break. If he were to play like that all of the time I'd be more confident of him winning a slam.
Murray wins in four sets.

Andy should have wrapped this up in 2 hrs. The extra 1.5 hrs may come back to haunt him against The Nadull.

Murray wins and is through to the Semi-finals He becomes only the seventh man in human history to have reached all semi-finals of grand-slam tournaments played within the same calender year. An exceptional achievement - well done Andrew Murray.

The good thing is that he hasn't got the same issue versus Nadal. He knows he has no choice but to be the attacking player.

So who are they? I'd say
Budge, Laver, Lendl, Federer, Djoko, Murray, Connors?

That makes 8 then cause Budge won the GS too so surely he must have reached the semi of the 4 slams too. Which year did Nadal do it?

Perhaps that seven is in the Open era then? Nadal did the feat in 2008.

Fed & Djokovic get the first match tomorrow, Murray & Nadal (most likely) get the second slot.
Interesting selection, everyone assumed it would be the other way round!

Nadal is simply too good at the moment.
The only chance that Andy realistically has in this match is to improve his first serve percentage and try to shorten the points.
Any rallies with Rafa will only end with one winner and it won't be Andy.

Nope not me. I said a day or two ago that because of the delays to the lower half of the draws matches then their semi would have to be second on as they were the ones that were compromised.

It makes sense - gives Murray and Nadal more time to rest after 2 matches in 2 days already. Then everyone gets the day off on Sunday.

Semi-final line up:legendkillar wrote:Who is the other Brit in the semi's NS?
Jiri Vesely CZE (1) v Kyle Edmund GBR
Oliver Golding GBR (13) v George Morgan GBR (10)
Liam Broady the Wimbledon finalist was knocked out in the third round.
There was only four British boys in the tournament and it essentially contained the top 64 junior players!

Rafael Nadal on cruise control to a semi-final spot against Andy Murray. Certainly looking far better than he did at Cincinatti.

Yes the moonballing is awesome. Must be so difficult to time winners off.
Only guys like Davydenko, Djokovc and a Murray on form can handle those.

If Murray had a heavy FH this would interest him. We all know that if Nadal was playing Djokovic or Federer he would be hammering their BH's. Nadal being put under pressure this year has shown reward.
What is frustrating is that Roddick is creating opportunities in points and just wasting them.

If I was the umpire I would tell Andy to put some effort in. I mean if Davydenko had put this performance in I am sure he would've got rollocked. Roddick's body language has been poor since the end of the first set.

He does look very tired and heavy legged though. A disappointing performance all the same but full credit to Rafael Nadal who has blown his opponent away.

So is Nadal just playing awesome (presumably his best hard court match of the year) or is there something wrong with Roddick (who beat the 6th seed Ferrer convincingly).

i like them both but roddick just aint with it today and his attitude stinks atm, if he loses the 1st set to a high seed he has no chance

NS Nadal has played some brilliant tennis, but Roddick has had a stinker. Almost like he forgot his brain and racquet.

Re: USO day 12 09/09/11
Nadal's forehand is, as the kids say, Beast. It actually seems more effective on a hard court in terms of the crazy angles he can create with it.
I think he's going to dismantle Murray just as he did at Wimbledon.

One and a half hours played and Roddick is two sets down and three-love down in the third. Apparently Roddick hasn't made any FH or BH winners so far.
