Jamie Roberts is a doubt for Wales' World Cup semi-final against France on Saturday, 8 October after suffering a suspected broken nose in their 22-10 quarter-final win over Ireland.

The centre received treatment late on in a bruising contest in which his forceful running proved effective.

But the medical student was Wales' only post-match concern as they celebrated reaching the semi-finals.

Harinordique (sp) played in the HC with a broken nose - he wore a silly foam head guard.

I recall seeing Barry John have his nose broken in Paris in1971, trying to tackle Dauga, a big French forward. He went off but came back on about 20 minutes later with a plug of cotton wool up each nostril. He then scored a brilliant solo try and Wales won their first Grand Slam of the 1970s.

Later in 1971, Barry John confided in Carwyn James that he was thinking of pulling out of the Lions tour to New Zealand, as he reckoned the broken nose had affected his breathing. He also told James he wasn't keen on the amount of training drills that the Lions would do. To his credit, and before sealing his coaching reputation with the Lions, Carwyn persuaded Barry John to tour. As for training on tour, Barry was often allowed to go off and do his own thing. The rest, as they say, is history.

When I broke my nose there was a lot of blood couple of black eyes but it did not stop me from playing.

Get the plastic surgeon on a flight pronto!

If he doesn't make it in time, hopefully Roberts' strength and the passionate determination he's shown all tournament can carry it for him. As mentioned above playing with a broken nose isn't unheard of and didn't Mefin Davies play with a broken thumb in 2005? Surely that would be more serious as it usually affects handling and if Mefin can do it...

He has played with a fractured skull before now so something trivial as a bent hooter wont bother him

Just looking at the new photos put up today, in the last one he looks nothing like a man who'll let his nose keep him out. In fact he doesn't even look in any pain.

That wont keep him out, you can tell he just wants to play. If not we have Scott Williams raring to go.

His nose didn't look to bad when he was high five 'n Gareth Thomas at the end of the game.

A broken nose never stopped Mike Tindall from playing,......Hang on a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jamie will play believe. After DOC he has to bump Harinordoquy out of his way next weekend.
