Heath Slater - Your Thoughts?

First topic message reminder :

I've been discussing on other threads the merits of Heath Slater, and his potential within the WWE, and have been suprised to come up against quite a lot of negativity towards the one man rock band.

For me Heath is a bright star on the Smackdown undercard, and has shown the potential to be a future star at maybe as high a level as the Intercontinental title. He's got a unique look. He's good in the ring, and on the mic. He's cocky and brash. And he's already made a name for himself within the Nexus and the Corre.

For me it's a real shame that he and Justin Gabriel seem to have distanced themselves from each other, because they were a good pairing, and could have gone on to be one of WWE's great tag teams. And maybe this is the division which holds the most hope for Slater long term.

I think Slater deserves to make an impact in WWE in 2012, whether it be as a solo act, or as part of a tag team, and I really hope he seizes any opportunity he is given to make it so.

What are your thoughts on Heath Slater?

Does he have a future with the WWE?
Or has any hope been extinguished by his Wellness Policy violation?

Technically, since he was involved in the destruction of Raw angle initially, Daniel Bryan Danielson was part of Nexus. That was the birth of Nexus and he was involved, albeit briefly, and I would class Bryan as way better than Slater. I would also class Gabriel as above him, but only slightly as they are both nothing more than spot monkeys.

Just had a thought.....I would class Cena above Slater as well. So, going along with what Warrior has just said, I make Slater 5th.

Slater has more charisma than Daniel Bryan, and that you can't argue with!

No he's not. Bryan is portrayed in the WWE as a nerd/geek. When was the last time you saw a geek with massive amounts of Charisma? Bryan is better in the ring than Slater. Being one half of the tag champs made Slater more visible; that doesn't make him better.

Also a good point from Twist, Punk and Cena were part of Nexus at different stages. They are both miles better than Slater. That drops him way down the order.

Well even if he's 5th - you're still contradicting this statement, because he IS as highly ranked in something else. He's 5th best in Nexus (even though he's 2nd)

If this whole thread isn't just a wind up then this statement is

Bryan is so far ahead of Heath Slater in every aspect of Pro Wrestling it's simply not even laughable

You can't compare an Aston Martin to a Ladder - one is for horizontal propulsion, whilst the other is primarily an escalation device.

It's not a wind up. Bryan is a better wrestler, sure. He's not a better character. Bryan's a charisma vacuum.

Actually with Punks involvement (how could I forget) he is now 6th.

He is 3 positions away from not even qualifying for the final......

I think gaffer meant Lada not Ladder. Which would make his description of Bryan versus Slater spot on.

Bryan Danielson has more charisma in his chin fluff than what Slater's got in his entire body, it's clearly just a complete WUM now, which is a shame, so I'm out

Michael Tarver was miles ahead of him, he did have that aura, look and sound, he is a perfect example of what I was talking about yesterday who got put on TV far to early, if they spent time teaching him how to work then debuted him he could have been huge

OK, I'll come clean - it's a little over enthusiastic. And maybe he isn't quite my second favourite wrestler. But I DO rate him, and think he has a very bright future with the company. And I want to know why pretty much everybody else doesn't agree with me. It's been an interesting discussion.

But you've just done exactly what has prompted me to over-indulge in my praise. Because as soon as anyone says what they feel about Daniel Bryan, or any other of his internet loved squad, and it's in contradiction to your thoughts - you call time on the conversation and simply rubbish the opinion. That the opinion is simply wrong and not worth discussing.

Well it's not wrong. Daniel Bryan is boring. He's a freaking brilliant wrestler. Probably one of the best in the WWE, and consequently world. But he's boring. And I'm not the only person who thinks it.

Heath Slater is higher on my list of favourite wrestlers than Daniel Bryan. Not a wind up. Fact. I'm looking forward to him coming back. Not a wind up. Fact. I don't understand why people don't rate him. Not a wind up. Fact.

Big difference. WWE have put Bryan through the vanilla clone machine to remove all trace of any personality, having him dancing with the Bella twins etc. Give him the mic and let him rant and he’s up there with Punk and Moxley.

To quote Austin, the bottom line is it doesn't matter what we rate him as. WWE don't. Hence why he is stuck on Superstars. I still think he will be FE'ed by Christmas.

I haven't seen Bryan Danielsen Macc. But I'm sure you are right.

But unfortunately that IS the character we are seeing on screen. And it should be nowhere near a Wrestlemania title match in it's present state.

It's the same with Evan Bourne, he's simply a pale comparision to Matt Sydal who could play an excellent cocky heel in the indys with a huge moveset.
In WWE though he's a grinning babyface with one trick.

One mans rubbish is another mans treasure and i think that defines this thread to a tee. I've been well on board with your support of slater (although I don't rate him anywhere near as highly as you do) but comparing him to Bryan is a no contest. Bryan is worlds apart from slater in pretty much every aspect, he can draw due his Indy background, he conveys emotion and generates a reaction from the audience in a way that slater just never will, he's paid his dues in the business and more importantly his ability and talent, not just technically but in regards to an all round performance is on completely different level to anything Heath can produce. I would be inclined to compare Heath to the likes of Bourne and Kingston but still think he is some way off them. As I've said Heath has the tools to produce a decent match but to really get over he needs to develop a character that can win hearts and minds.

It was the same with Low-Ki, ticks so many boxes yet when after he won Nexus 2 creative held their hands up and said they had nothing for him.

Seriously - if he does start some momentum, as I predict, then 606v2 will be exteremly visible. I wonder if this could be a tactic for the forum? If we champion a few lesser guys with articles and work on making each a big debate, and get high up on Google's rankings - hedging our bets that if one of them hits the big time - great advertisment!

Could go the otherway though. Search for Slater after he has been FE'd and there is this thread, 4th on Google listings, championing his cause. People looking at it would think "wtf, these guys know nothing".

Which would bring about an ED beating.

BTW we have been knocked down to 6th. Below heath-slater.net, and another 606v2 article about his Wellness violation. Way to go to big him up......

Ive got an idea how to book Slater ending the streak next year...

At Wrestlemania its Triple H vs The Undertaker. HHH makes his entrance to a live Motorhead performance but out of nowhere is attacked by Heath Slater. Slater beats down Hunter so badly that he cant compete, he then gets onto the stage and destoys Lemmy and the band before getting on the mic and going nuts. 'Ahm the One Mayun Roak Baahnd, we dont need Motorheead we need me, Heath Slater'.

Slater then takes Hunter's spot in the match and squashes Taker within 2 minutes by throwing Lemmy's facial warts at him before dropping the Charisma Bomb and the Ginger Bread Man Drop.

Slater ends the streak, and then goes on to win the IC title.
