If A 606v2 Golf Weekend Was Arranged Would You Attend?

First topic message reminder :

It's been talked about and it's been tried in the past, but with no luck. Plenty have actually arranged some local meets and had a good time. Given enough time, I think a great long weekend can be arranged for the spring, and some good deals can be had for accomodation and golf. 3-rounds of golf and 2-nights hotel could be a winning combination. Obviously location will be key, so should be somewhere central, but I'm willing to travel anywhere for a bit of craic when golf's involved.

Would be interesting to see how many would be up for this

Yes(ish) for me but would depend on advance notice time etc. Good in principle and definitely be up for curry/beer.

I would be up for it, coming from Kent anywhere north is ok by me....May be able to bring along some "non" 606v2 ers as well...Soon get em signed up along the way!

If there was any interest stateside, I could work with Kwini to have it at a beautiful (rustic, if tending towards very rustic) Newport Golf Club in Newport, NY. You won't find a cheaper place to stay/eat/drink anywhere in these United States!

I think we'd have to have one in the UK first.If people are considering going stateside then why don't we try RCD.

Don't know of a single indian restaurant that would use curry powder.

First rule of internet polls. If it's a yes/no question, only allow one option to be selected. I voted for both, to be awkward and because though I like the idea I can't be certain.

As far as location is concerned, the Belfry would put me off, how about (if we're looking at northern England as being central) Southport?

Yes on the proviso that it didn't clash with a big club comp.

Given our geographical spread I'd suggest the Southport area as central, if we made it early spring we might even manage top courses on winter green fees.

I feel that would be quite difficult to organise to play with members from dubai and thailand .if you are struggling for numbers I would gladly try to make myself available to play.

Yankee if you can cross the pond and make it to somewhere north of england i'm sure everyone would be happy to have a game and relieve you of some pennies

I can cross the pond before Mid-February but after that I'm busy with various business issues until start of may.

Shot rock I like your thinking. Didn't have the chance to play Newport or attempt it but it looked a cracking course when I was there last year.

It's the Movember, the laydees lurve it.....

Just added Simo, eyetolduso, Lord and Ladyputt, which means numbers are up to 20, which is great people, well done. We may even get a few more by the close of play this weekend, so we can then debate where and when.

LP I wouldn't be too worried about some of the comments coming from some our resident lothario's. Most are over 18-stone, bald and have bits missing ...

I think this is going to be a case of somebody just picking a weekend and then everyone else deciding if they can or can't make it. If we start bouncing around a selection of dates then we'll end up going round in circles and nothing will get organised.

I would suggest that we avoid the Easter weekend as that is the Saunton open which a few guys from here play each year.

As a group, we need to elect an organiser and pick an area/venue. Sensible venues appear to be somewhere in the Birmingham to Manchester area of the country so that we have maximum chance to get as many people there as possible. Southport offers a tremendous selection of courses albeit not cheap but if we are planning something for say March/April time then people at least have the chance to put a few pennies aside.

As a suggestion March 23/24 and 25th could work and we should be able to get some prefferential rates. The previous weekend is St Patricks day (sat) and Mothers Day (Sun) so may not be good for some.
