Cornwall stadium
Very good news for the Pirates as yesterday's planning decision agreed to the development of a 10,000-seater stadium: Cornwall stadium. I believe that in the meantime until it is ready, the Pirates are in discussion with Plymouth Argyle about a possible ground-share should they win promotion to the Premiership this season

Re: Cornwall stadium
Maybe a few people will not agree with me here but the RFU forcing the Championship to go professional has been the best thing that's happened to second division rugby.
Instead of seeing the yo-yo effect that was common for Leeds we, even those outside of England, can enjoy a real contest for promotion. All of sudden there is more than just the relegated premiership side, now there is the likes of the Pirates and Welsh pushing as well.
Great news for the Pirates. A probable result of the RFU forcing teams to adapt to professional sport. Can't wait to see Pirates in the premiership, or at least more coverage of the Championship in nice new packed stadiums.

Congratulations to Dicky Evans, Inox , S4C group and all involved. Plenty more hurdles to overcome to obtain Detailed Panning Consent for both the Stadium and the residential development, but it's a mighty big step taken yesterday.
Jaymaster, that could be a mighty big can of worms that you're opening there, but that would be a separate debate. One response could be that while RFU wanted to force teams to become fully professional, so many went bust that it relented, and we now have a mix of pro and semi-pro clubs underpinned by DR players.

Have you been reading the RFU pamphlets?
Most of the teams in the Championship are not fully pro.
They get a pittance from the RFU who can't even find a sponsor for their league!
Two thirds of the teams are ineligible for promotion (all but one if stick to the un-enforceable PRL primacy of tenure rule and that one (Leeds) really play second fiddle to their co-tenant.
The average gate is less than 2000
If you want a real idea of life in the championship i'd suggest you go here:

If Newcastle are relegated this season, does their stadium have the required seating capacity to regain promotion?

Wonder if you'll get any Albion fans jumping ship from Brickfields to watch some jeff rugby at Home Park?

Thanks, mate.
I was wondering. The last time I was there I thought it was very small.

Re: Cornwall stadium
Pirates will apparently have to 'compensate' Albion for loss of income - not sure how they'll work it out tho?Breadvan wrote:Wonder if you'll get any Albion fans jumping ship from Brickfields to watch some jeff rugby at Home Park?

Uh, Dude, but there are SIX Celtic nations. Then the Rabo Pro Celitc ex-Magners Direct 12 will have to expand again. Sacre bleu!AlynDavies wrote:

I know because the all-being, all-knowing Wikipedia says so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtic_nations#Six_Celtic_nations

Bad news for the Pirates: Stadium delays - seems that the stadium will take longer than they were counting on and that DoR Chris Stirling will be taking a sabbatical next season while they sort it out
