Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of John Hayes, Craig Gilroy,
Niall O'Connor, Ben Skirving and Jonny May above the bar!

So what's everyone's gut feeling for the HEC Final 8?

Munster, Leinster, Saracens, Clermont, Toulouse and Ulster already through...

Who out of Edinburgh, Cardiff, Ospreys and Biarritz can grab the last two QF slots? Also, what will the be the seedings?

I'll take a punt from afar:

1. Munster v 8. Ulster
2. Leinster v 7. Edinburgh
3. Saracens v 6. Toulouse
4. Cardiff v 5. Clermont

Don't think Toulouse can be 8th seed, Breaker - they are pool winners. At least, I think that's how it works.

I see, Puma. So Toulouse 6th, then Edinburgh 7th, Ulster 8th.

Now I know what Gibbo was on about them qualifying with only 18 points to win their pool.

Puma is correct.

Toulouse will probably be 6th seed.

And if both Cardiff and Edinburgh qualify one of them will be 7th or 8th.

They seed the winners of each pool 1-6 in order of points accrued and then the 2 runners-up are 7 and 8.

We will definately be travelling to Limerick or Dublin.

OK, ideal combo for Ireland in the 6Ns

The pride in the green jersey as shown by Connacht on Friday
The commitment to getting to the breakdown and chasing kicks as shown by Ulster last w/e against Tigers
The silky hands and off-loading as shown by Leinster in December against Bath at Lansdown Road
The try-scoring breaks as shown by Munster last night.

I love the one from 2003.

Guys, I think our result in Clermont might be the best result an Irish team have ever got there?

Better than Leinster and Munster acheived in 20011 and 2008 respectively when they went on to win the thing.

In fact, I think it's the best result anyone in the HEC has got in ASM since 2008!

Not too shabby!

Yes Mrs P, you can also look at it as a 78 point backwards slide for Clermont.

If you had won - it would have probably been one of the biggest ever turnarounds in the history of the game!

Actually Line, we might hold that record ourselves from 2004.

Giving the Tigers their biggest hiding ever (till 9 days ago Very Happy ) in Europe 33 v 0 and then getting a 49 v 7 walloping back the very next week!

Crying or Very sad

But that was WAY back then.

Saracens hit back. Clever play by Stringer around the fringes to send Botha over. The will be 10-7.

Biarritz need a BP to give them the best possible chance dreamer, so Os can't expect any favours!

Puma,

Could you just come over for the whole weekend and spend the none rugby days as a tourist?

At least it would cover all the bases and it might end up cheaper than leaving it till later to book anyway?

If Edinburgh get one of the runners-up spots the price of flights could go up a lot!
