i think you're underestimating the volume.

Not watching this Final as the WTA need to do something about the prolonged noise that some players produce imo. Don't mind grunts and breath being expelled - but this kind of thing (especially on gentle touch shots) makes a mockery of the game and cracks spectator concentration

My view is that there needs to be some action within the game (ATP/WTA/ITF). It's a spectator sport and the steady increase of grunting within the womans game in particular, is already deterring a significant number from watching the sport.

I really do not understand why these female tennis players need to grunt their way through their boring matches (oh - maybe that's why!) and just put off spectators. I watched the Federer v Nadal French Open Final and whilst Nadal did make noises it was nothing like what the women make. Federer was silent - as it should be.

It's a shame as Azarenka is a genuinely exciting player. Whilst shrieking in general seems to be on the way out Azarenka will likely be at the top of the game carrying the torch for shrieking for many years to come. Which is why Kvitova must try harder.

Having said that when did it become the norm to 'fist pump' (in contrived fashion) after every point won whilst looking directly at the opponent, effectively fist-pumping 'in their face'?. . . Kvitova is guilty of that ugly business. . . it's another blight on the spectacle. You feel like you're watching a couple of sociopaths who'd do anything for the slightest advantage.

NS the sad truth is that both players see nothing wrong with the noise.

Sharapova claims to have made such screeching sounds since she was five and Azarenka doesn't see what all the fuss is about.

I forget which match it was, I think it was wimbledon SF Azarenka vs Kvitova, near the end of the match Azarenka stopped screeching during a rally, like she was having to concentrate so hard not to lose the match that she forgot to screech for several balls.

My dream final would have been "Aussie" Kim vs Kvitova.

It is being reported that the Ladies Final and "Ladies Day" is not a sell out (by BBC Radio Five Live). It has also been reported that the Ladies Semi-Final matches were also not sell outs

I on the other hand would not mind paying them as much for best of 3 tie-breaks to 7.
