Scotland team to play Wales in the RBS 6 Nations Championship at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Sunday 12 February, kick-off 3pm

Position/ Name/ Club/ Caps/ Try Count/ Try rate %
15 Lamont (Glasgow) 27, 6, 22%
14 Jones (Edinburgh) 1, 0, 0%
11 Evans (Castres) 25, 3, 12%
13 De Luca (Edinburgh) 30, 1, 3%
12 Lamont (Scarlets) 61, 8, 13%
10 Laidlaw (Edinburgh) 3, 0, 0%
9 Cusiter (Glasgow) 56, 3, 5%
1 Jacobsen (Edinburgh Rugby) 61, 0. 0%
2 Ford (Edinburgh Rugby) 54, 2, 4%
3 Cross (Edinburgh Rugby) 9, 0, 0%
4 Gray (Glasgow Warriors) 17, 0, 0%
5 Hamilton (Gloucester) 35, 1, 3%
6 Strokosch (Gloucester) 24, 1, 4%
7 Rennie (Edinburgh Rugby) 12, 0, 0%
8 Denton (Edinburgh Rugby) 2, 0, 0%

Bench
16 Lawson (Gloucester) 30, 2, 7%
17 Kalman (Glasgow Warriors) uncapped
18 Kellock (Glasgow Warriors) 37, 1, 3%
19 Barclay (Glasgow Warriors) 33, 2, 6%
20 Blair (Edinburgh Rugby) 76, 7, 9%
21 Weir (Glasgow Warriors) uncapped
22 Hogg (Glasgow Warriors) uncapped

So what can we glean from these worthless nuggets of data, well:-
THE PACK –
• 4 TRIES in 214 GAMES that’s 1 try in nearly 54 matches
• 5 forwards between them have never scored a try in 101 matches

THE BACKS –
• The most successful backs as far as tries per game are
o Rory 22%
o Sean 13%
o Max 12%
Ironically these three were the players most of the posters wanted dropped or moved to another position, the next best is Blair on 9% (7 tries)
• NDL although the form centre is not cutting it as far as scoring tries, and comparing him to his opposite number on Sunday Jon Davies (5 tries in 6 games) it emphasises more what he has to work at

So Mr Robinson what can we tell you from this
1. Throw the hairdryer at the forwards the try count is appalling
2. Select the Edinburgh half back pairing to start, with the Glasgow counterparts chomping at the bit to come on post 55 mins
3. Change Schlong to O/C and chance young Matt Scott at I/C
4. Anyone who is advocating Hogg, Scott, Jones (that’s 1 CAP between them) all starting in the red hot cauldron of the Millennium Stadium, needs some help asap

FHFs Starting 15
15 Rory
14 Jones
11 Evans

13 Sean
12 Scott

10 Laidlaw
9 Blair

8 Denton
7 Rennie
6 Stroko

5 Gray
4 Hamilton

3 Cross
2 Ford
1 Jacobson

Mr Robinson I think you might have missed a trick sir

How many of S Lamont's tries came at centre? How chances has he butched by not passing? As long as Laidlaw tries a few miss-passes it should be fine

Miss passes. Worked (sometimes) with Tindall.

Not good men. Not good at all. Not even a last throw, mis-pass or otherwise, for Robinson. He is the perfect candidate for the England job - deeply conservative ! Whistle
