Much to discuss still on the semis's other thread but when we are ready to move...It will happen here.

Federer might be tired from that semi but if he can play like today.....he has a good chance.

Largely irrelevant I think. Of course it would give Fed confidence to beat Murray who is one of the few players to consistently trouble him and has a positive h2h over him. It would similarly give Murray confidence to build on a good semi victory over Nole.

However, Murray has had the best of Fed over b03 several times before and this hasn't translated into a win at a slam, despite being heavily tipped on the two occasions they did square off. Of course that may well change this year.

In short - it would do both players good, but I am not sure I would talk up either of their chances at the next few slams on the basis of a win in Dubai.

I can't disagree with any of that.

Ha ha! If Murray loses the British press will also make him favourite for Wimbledon, US, AO, Olympics etc. They will also tell us how sweet, charming, modest and good looking he is and also last maybe but by no means least how much he loves his mum... They will then interview all the other players they can find (past and present) who will all agree.

The crowd seem to be enjoying the tennis - they're very vocal. It's a close match. Difficult to call at the moment. Will Federer's mind go walk abouts. Will Murray wobble?

Not a great match so far.

Murray walks as though he's wading through treacle. Or sewage. Or any viscous substance.

Federer looks relaxed-loose rather than relaxed-fluid.

I like the fact that on those courts teh ball doesn't slow down much towards teh baseline. It suddenly makes teh goal posts wider for teh attacking player.

I do agree that either USO or AO should be fast like this court. Murray wobbling - having difficulty finding the first serve.

Murray needs to hold on to the rest of his service games otherwise I think it will impact quite moderately on his confidence in the next tournament or two perhaps.

Yes not often mentioned but due to slower pace it has to be a kind of wrong footing as well. It's an elegant shot.
