It was a amazing performance from Ali Carter from 12-9 down to win the match in the end, but Judd has no one to blame but himself. He has enough opportunities to get that frame to win him the match but somehow he couldn't get the bottle and the determination needed to get him over the finishing line.

Well Judd did miss too many easy pots, shots that he would normally have potted with his eyes closed so there is a question mark hanging over him now about whether he can mentally tough it out or will he go the same way like another talented left-hander who also blew a golden chance of winning a final frame of a match at the crucible - a certain Jimmy White when he played Stephen Hendry in 1994.

Well he almost threw away the UKC against Allen (which he was lucky to win) but I don't think there's any mental problems hanging over him such as bottleritis.

But Judd missed far too many easy shots for my liking. He would have won the match 13-10/13-11 if he had got those. Still at least there will be plenty more opportunities for Judd to win the World Title one day as long as this defeat makes him a better player. Judd is a amazing long ball potter but he really needs to improve on his cueball control to have a chance of winning the World title.

I love how gboycottnutt points to how Ronnie only lost to his nemesis last year. If you remember Higgins came in to the tournament cold having not long come back from his ban so what better a chance could Ronnie ask for to beat him especially as we keep hearing how Ronnie is the best thing since sliced bread from his fans. Something somewhere doesn't add up does it?

ermm i am not sure if i agree with carter there lol. i saw trump acknowledge his lucky shots plenty of times. sometimes what ali thought was lucky wasnt!!

he plays a lot of shots which may look luckier than there are- but there are actually played for

not sure if i agree with that- he does really think about where that white ball is going. Its all about getting a good white ball. if the odd red goes in well he has done the important part- obviously more flukes will happen when you hit the balls harder

Judd Trump has more flukes and run of the ball than any other player. He is a lucky wee man but i think that it can mainly be put down to his attacking game. When you are more safety orientated the ball goes where you want it to (most of the time) but when you are attacking, it leaves things more open to a chance fluke.

i dont think that is the case billy- trump hits the ball hard in safety as well.Notice how he looks at the split alot - he plays attacking safety- which is all about the white ball, however he is happy to split the pack as well, which is all well and good as long as the white is good..

Either way he wasnt good enough to beat carter, but in all fairness he bottled it and had plenty of chances.
