Rock & Cena *SPOILERS*

First topic message reminder :

Wrestlemania 28, Miami, Florida. The main event is set. The one we've all been waiting for. The main event, set a year before time. It will be:

John Cena v The Rock.

Miky I honestly believe sometimes that if you back peddle any faster you would end up travelling back in time. Maybe you would Quantum Leap to the Attitude Era and see why Cena sucks.

I do have an idol. In fact I have 2. Michael Jordan and Jimi Hendrix. But I would never worship them the way you do with Cena and Rock. For the record, I'm a massive Rock fan too, but I try not to get carried away with it.

It may be more entertaining than "Mr Army Corps" v "The C List Actor who requires a year to prepare before he is willing to take his shirt off on national television"

it will be intresting to see how and if they carry this for another year. i can see Rocky teaming with Cena in uneasy alliance against the Corre. upto summerslam/ survivor series

In fairness DT, i appreciate them both but i don't go over the top with it, and yes they are my Wrestling idols so to speak.

I don't know what the big problem with that is.

like Miky, being both a Rock and Cena fan too I am very much looking forward to this match, I have no idea what will happen in the build up. Although I dare say we won't see Rock until around Royal Rumble time but any chance he gets in the main stream media he will be talking about the match. I wonder what drove this decision though...

Vince knows already that he has no main card for WM28 and the up and comers won't be ready until WM29 or even 30.

I'm in two minds right now, it seems like a long way off but also like the appropriate event, however this now surely makes every Cena angle and feud redundant now until he gets Rock out the way

Everything in between will be basically just build up. They have (near enough) taken there main man out of action for nine months until WM build up. It is a brave move to do and I hope they do it properly with no Cena title run etc. After all, if they are booked for then in any case it will be non-title and the WWE title would have to be fought for at WM so he can't have it.

I am stretching it a bit by saying no run in 2011 either but I think it will do his character some good.

I think Cena will get a run with the title this year but because we already know he will face Rock at WM he wont be champ nor will he win the Rumble and there is no point in being in the Chamber match, I doubt Rock will be around much until after that so it leaves Cena in limbo

Bret Hart's facebook update today regarding Cena/Rock was:

"Ballsy move to book Rock/Cena a year from now. I like it. It'll be a challenge for everyone involved to maintain interest for that long."

I think the only way to maintain interest is to keep Rock off tv until early next year but have attack Cena through social networking or the occasional one off appearance. I can't call if it's gonna be a major success or epic fail, hoping for the former

I like it to, but im playing devils advocate with it, I think they need to keep them apart for as long as possible and ie and when Rock appears Cena has to be kept off TV with maybe a face to face contract signing/staredown about a month beforehand, i would have both bad mouth each other through out the year

I think Cena should jump Rock at his next movie premiere and AA him on the red carpet; then have Rock file an assault charge on Cena and get him locked up in jail, only for Cena to be released in time for WM28 and have Cena fuming for revenge making the match a death match complete with barbed wire, flaming tables and glass ending in both men killing themselves in the middle of the ring never to wrestle again...

...before Cena then turns up on Raw the next night no selling his death.

I had a small idea, probably rubbish but thought I'd throw it out there.

If they are going to have a feud between the two for possibly a year then could anyone see along the way a Team Bring It v Team Fruity Pebbles are one of the big PPV's. Not actually have The Rock or Cena participate but have both men get 5 superstars each (possibly some from the Rock's past) to fight for the respective teams?

Nice idea Steve, The Rock could pick Attitude Era guys (Goldust, Kane, Big Show etc) and Cena could choose the newer guys (K Kwik, JoMo, Santion etc). I agree Rock and Cena shouldn't participate but maybe do commentary during the match? Would have been good for a traditional Survivor Series match had the PPV still existed.

The PPV does still exsist doesn't it? I think if Cena had a team they would call it Team Come Get Some

Yeah the changed it for last year but due to the backlash from the fans promptly reinstated it before the event

Have them trash talking for a few weeks, then put it on the back burner, with
them just making the occasional snip's at each other. Then in nov/dec have Cena
win the title, and have him occasionally bad mouthing the Rock again. Then at
the royal rumble, enterent no 30/40 turns out to be the Rock, who obviously wins,
but in doing so re-ignites the feud at just the right time. And then they could take
the trash talking up a level, but without facing each other (have match's choosen by
each other, interupt each others matches without getting into the ring etc)till
mania.

Just to throw something else into the mix.
I like alot of other people thought that Cena v Taker was going to be at next years
mania. So where does this leave Taker now ? If he is still around who will be his
opponent next year ? And providing wwe plans a Cena/Taker match at mania, can
Taker last 2 more years with the injuries, age etc ?

Does this mean the Rock Cena match would be for the title? Not a fan of that as I just don't think it needs it. The match would supersede everything anyway, no need to take things away from other matches. This feud builds itself, build another around a title.

If Rock was willing to come back for a run then I would have no hessitation in making it the title match, itr ok saying that the match doesn't need the title but for me the WWE Title match when possible should always be the biggert match on the card

I dont think that next years Mania match between the Rock and Cena should involve a title belt, but it should have some sort of stipulation. After all, this match will truly determine who is the real People's Champ...

A title match for it would be something of a fudge but I can see the sentiment of making the title match the biggest on the card. So many WM's in recent history have had other matches as the headline / biggest one.

If they were going to wait until WM29 - isn't it possible that there would be another candidate by then? You never know, in that time period they may stop messing some of the new generation around and build them up to a level that they would be a credible challenge to Taker.

Two years ago Miz was bumped of the Mania main card into a dark match, two years on he headlines and wins the Mania title match becoming only the 2nd heel in historx to win the title match in the last match of the night

From what I made of it on Monday night....the Rock was making his final apppearance until next year when he will be back for the match at mania. The match itself really doesn't interest me as Cena completely sucks at putting on a good match whoever he faces but I will buy it anyway haha

As for Cena vs Taker? Why?! It would be terrible. HHH vs Taker II at WM28 would be fine by me in a career vs career/streak match like HBK scenario. Though both wrestlers could announce this would be their last match and one would go out with a win. That is if they both intend to retire next year.
