Murray breaks a bad run
Finally Andy Murray has won a match since the AO final against Djokovic.
His new confidence has been put down to his visit to a famous boxing gym and lunchtime chat with Hayes.
He said that what impressed him most is the intensity that the boxers train and fight at and the dedication they put into their career.
Commentators at the match said he looked more focused and up for it, on his toes and playing with more concentration than the last 3 months.
Lets hope this heralds a new start to his 2011 campaign.

Re: Murray breaks a bad run
I said something about boxing being good for him, on 606.
I was told he already does boxing training.
Have you got any details of exactly what these boxing sessions entail?
I think he should try Muay Thai or Karate next!
I'm feeling incredibly joyful at the news of Andy's win

I think Gilles Simon may be a bit of a toughie for him next, but he looked a damn sight better today than he did at Miami.

I have just one thing to say:
Actually he looked very good today, especially during the first set which was excellent (12 winners, just one unforced error). His forehand has vertainly improved, it was a very effective weapon today.

Sol, not sure about his "boxing" training sessions, but he is a huge boxing fan, knows his stuff.

Re: Murray breaks a bad run
Murray was going to snap out of it boxing or not. His forehand did look excellent in his match against Stepanek. Andy is a great player and he will get there eventually. I also liked his deameanor on court he looked loose and relaxed, and refrained from the tantrums. Although Stepanek didn't push him or stress him out in anyway.

Didn't see today's match but it seems he played pretty well, unfortunate that Simon got injured. BBC are saying the crowd were booing Murray a bit, what's up with that?
Anyway, Frederico Gil is a good clay player, should be an interesting match

Andy - what a guy.
Playing drop shots to save Simon from running all over the court with his dodgy ankle.
And the crowd still weren't happy!
Well done Andy, hope you can make the semi's and get more tips from Rafa on playing on clay.

Hey guys. Oh yes ... the French crowd did not like it one bit that Murray was doing what any player should do which was play to his advantage when his opponent was in trouble. I think it got to him slightly when serving for the match, but he still held his nerve and saw it out.
