Humble pie for super

Dear super_realist,

Hate to say I told you so, Shane Lowry has just beaten a lot of slimmer, fitter opponents to win the Portugal masters. Ironically, you must now gorge on humble pie until you are the size of Billy Bunter.

Please take back the awful things you've said and admit that fitness has next to no impact on a person's golf. That goes for everyone else who's made fun of Shane here, you know who you are...

I was there too hend, the course looks fantastic if quite difficult. There's tons of top courses to play here, the ultimate for me would prob be the old head of kinsale, looks amazing. Has anyone played it?

no ive never had the honour. it looks absolutley stunning though. ive managed to tick off alot of the top courses. i grew up in portmarnock... and spent quite a few evenings playing out there until it got dark or we were chased off!

Played Adare 7 or 8 times..........when i played with local society, we played there every October Holiday weekend............live only about 7 miles from there so it was brill for me when Irish Open was there.

Played Kinsale about 3 years ago.....at a time when € 1000 for a 4 ball was a distant memory thankfully......wow...........i think it gets bad press because of the exhorbitant green fees in the past, but it is the finest course in ireland undoubtedly IMO. Just one stunning, scenic hole after another.............

is it bordering on crazy golf a bit?

I've a uni friend who is a member at malahide . He lives in London though and rarely gets home. He did have a hole in one on one of his infrequent trips home last year.

Perhaps my memory is playing tricks again but I actually thought Shane Lowry looked a bit slimmer than when he won 'the Irish'.

Anyway, good on him.

EDIT: Also, although I'm no fan of Lowry, when I was standing beside him at the Irish Open this year, he was not as fat as he looked on TV that night when watching the highlights (not that he had that many of them that week). Safe to say, the camera does indeed add 10 pounds.. or is it kilos.

lol. I thought it looked a bit odd when I typed it but couldn't be bothered checking. That'll 'learn' me!

Still and, notwithstanding memory failure, just goes to show the extent to which his star had faded.
