606V2 King Of The Ring Details Thread.

Hi guys,

Some of you may know that King Beer is the 606 KOTR from near the end of last year, this was sparked from a competition i ran from another posters idea and carried it on and eventually KB was crowned KOTR, hence his name "King Beer". I have decided to run the same competition on 606V2 so we can crown a new one specifically for here. I understand this could be classed as a popularity competition but it isn't in my eyes, people can vote for who they damn please and the person who wins will be the most popular anyway.

Anyways, i will be thinking over the next few days whilst i get responses from you guys on wheather you would like to take part or not. All you have to do is sign yourself up on this thread and if you have any feedback or ideas as to how this can work then please let me know, also on this thread.

On a side note i am only posting it in here to start with, then the competition will spill over into off topic so it does not clog up the Wrestling board because it has minimal reference to Wrestling really!

So, it's over to you from here and i will count up the amount of people when i feel we have enough to move forward and progress with this.

Heres a topic i posted a while ago people to do with the 606V2 KOTR i am planning on running.

This topic is to explain it in more detail and to ask people to sign themselves up if they haven't already.

Alright so, i have had some help on the idea behind this and i know alot of people thought it would of been just another popularity contest. I have decided to go with an idea suggested on the other thread of debating a topic i give to the selected 2 people facing off agaisnt one another.

There would be randomly selected face-offs for example see below:

Holymiky VS King Beer.

"What do you think of the state of wrestling at the moment?"

I would ask them both to send me, within 24 hours of posting the thread a reply to the topic question asked. Then i would post a topic with the 2 replies as anonymous and ask people to vote for thier favourite reply, obviously whoever wins will be put through to the next round and so on.

I am going to run this thread untill at least tommorow morning so if anyone who ventures on here in the evening can be involved aswell.

I'd be happy to hear any topics that people would want to see put into the head to heads to be discussed aswell.

I'm not sure when i am going to run it simply because its Good Friday this friday and there are alot of bank Holidays coming up. It may be after that who knows, i will warn the people involved via PM of when i plan to do it.

I didn't even know who'd written this article. I've seen articles like this appear all too frequently on the old 606 & it's utterly embarassing.

Why do you feel the need for this? It's pointless & you've virtually admitted it's a popularity contest so who cares? Do you seek acceptance on these pages that you can't garner in other social situations?

Do you think on the cycling pages for example they all have a mini tour de France every 2 months & everybody squabbles over the yellow jersey?? I don't know for sure but I highly doubt it

Honestly, i have said that people thought it was a popularity contest i didnt say it was imo. I changed it so people will like to take part and they feel more comfortable doing so, at the end of the day it's a bit of fun and if you don't like it then guess your gonna have to lump it. It's not breaking the rules in any way.

Sorry Brady but if you look at the set up of it....it is actually about having a debate on a topic. The posts are to be sent to Miky and he will then post both views anonymously. Key word here being anonymously.

In what way is that a popularity contest? How can you vote for your favourite poster if you don't know which post is theirs??

Anyway I've said my piece.... My main gripe is that when these threads pop up it completely kills the quality of threads whilst they take place... The content of the threads is really immature & usually revolves around Jim Ross immpersonations although the main content of this new one will be based around John Morrisons love life

Yes the banter on here at times takes over some threads...but these are going to be debate based threads...that can surely only be a good thing. Anything to spark reasoned debate has to be a good thing.

Actually scratch that, I've just read the rules and I honestly don't think I would have enough time to devote to this to give it a fair go. I will however read the competition with keen intent.

I am going to be kickstarting this within the next few hours hopefully, if i don't get busy at work. I will be randomly selecting the showdowns using a random generator to keep fairness throughout, untill the last few rounds of course. I will only tell you who faced who and who beat who at the end of a round to show who is still in the competition. I will be pming the question for the person to answer/argue for or against and will wan't a reply within 24 hours if possible to then allow people time to answer in the evenings if they don't get time during the day. The posts will be posted in quote marks in individual topics (any suggestions mods/admins on how to keep this as least spammy as possible) and a poll option for people to vote for thier favourite reply to the question asked.

You will not be told by me who you are facing in each round. I feel it adds a sense of suprise and also fairness and it keeps the safety of it not turning into a popularity contest understandably.

What i meant was that they pm me the replies, i post them up anonymously, people vote and then it determines the winner of the pair each time.
