Cannot believe Celtic beat Barcelona. That's the greatest upset in the history of the Champions League for me. Credit to Neil Lennon and his boys

United with yet another late late show...RVP has saved their season on several occasions already, if he gets an injury I can see United falling apart.

And good to see Michael Appleton getting a proper job. Top class coach at Albion, been fantastically loyal to Pompey as manager through some terrible times (and been paid peanuts too), and now he has the managers job at a team pushing for promotion to the Prem. Well deserved Appo.

Didn't Rubin Kazan win in Barcelona? They def beat them once under Guardiola. Nothing against Celtic but I'm sure theres been bigger upsets.

He has Gypes, Michalik,Howard,Rodgers,Mcleod,Busakey. lot of championship players and even one who was in the prem last year, the portsmouth squad is above averge for L1

This. Appo lost his entire first team, and Pompey are lucky they have ANY points this season looking at their terrible team. He deserves a lot of credit for that, not to mention working for free for about six months

Its literally an entire team of debutants. None of them had played with each other, and your team couldn't even win, let alone dominate. Thats not just crap tactics, thats bad players

Just got sent this by my mate who was trying to be on the wind up, but I'll be honest, I couldn't stop laughing at the banner

Far me it for me to agree with Cherries, but Appleton assembled a team of... mercenaries.

Portsmouth are one of the highest wage payers in League 1. Only Sheffield United and Bournemouth are higher AFAIK. These players aren't on cheap month long rolling contracts, and they certainly aren't playing for Portsmouth for the name of the club. Appleton might have done a decent job, but he was definitely aided by yet more Portsmouth overspending.

The fact Blackpool have brought Appleton in for his "ability to work well on a budget" is laughable.

I would say that with the constant turnover of players Appleton had, it was always going to be hard for him to do any better at Pompey than he has done. Not having a settled squad that he can work with is a serious hinderance, as he would be having to install his beliefs over and over again during a season

Marky are you kidding me? Pompey are paying about £750 a week maximum to all their players, because they have no money

And it wasn't like Appo had a choice of free agents - he literally had to take who he could get. He has a terrible side as a consequence, no support from his superiors, and the fans were grateful that he stayed on at all.

He'll get Blackpool promoted.

Also, glad to see Spurs are going to get taken to task on the 'Yid Army' singing. Only about 4% of the singers are actually Jewish
