That's some quality inactives! You should still have too much for NY though. Cowboys not going away quietly here thanks to some terrible soft defense.

Yep, with this defense, no game is ever put away until the clock says it's over.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
Redskins are the only team in the league who could blow a 25 point half time lead and they're demonstrating right now just how to do it. You play crap defense and stop doing the things offensively that put you ahead in the first place.
Cowboys will win this. Momentum is everything in this game and the Cowboys have it now. Our defense won't be able to stop them again in this game so it's all on the offense.

Clutch kick there from Forbath! Might that be enough? I wouldn't bet on it.

Officially over! The clock says so!!! Get in!!! Even when they're winning, the Redskins make you sweat. I literally am stinking! I need to get me some stronger deodorant. The wife is going to love me when I go up to bed!!
Go Redskins! HTTR!!! And go Packers against the Giants this weekend! When we went 3-6 I didn't think we'd have an interest in the division title race!

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
Well, that was easily my favourite Thanksgiving ever.
For all the deserved chat about RG3, it's well worth giving special mention to the Redskins' other standout rookie, Alfred Morris. I thought he was awesome last night. I'd love to know what his yards after contact stats for the season are. Hard to imagine there will be too many RBs with better ones. He does so much hard running but not only that, he's so good at it. Without that, the play action fakes that are such a key part of the Redskins offense almost certainly wouldn't be as effective as they are turning out to be. Morris is making sure defenses have to guard against the run and it's paying big dividends. With 5 games still to go, the Redskins have already scored more points than they did the whole of last season.
Also, we may finally have found a kicker..... thank you Kai Forbath!!!
Still, best not get too carried away - 8-8 would be an absolute triumph for us from this position. 7-9 more likely.

Defensive injuries costing Houston?
Always impressive winning twice in overtime in 5 days, but Henne and Stafford lit them up.

I'm not getting carried away, but we can win out against division opponents, especially the Eagles, and that could but us at 6-6. Giants aren't walkovers by any means, but they are having a rough patch and we'll go in wiht momentum. That could leave us needing wins against the Bowns (again not walkovers but we should beat a 2-8 team on current form) and the Ravens, and they are the only team I could stomach losing to now. 9-7 or 10-6 could easily win the division. That said, this D will not take us deep into the playoffs, but just getting there this year would be amazing.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
They had Joseph last week didnt they. Henne and Blackmon just went after Kareem Jackson.
To be fair, its a busted play and hes just trying to get as many yards as he can. You can see Wilfork push him into him which probably causes the fumble.
Still hilarious though.

He pushes him back, but not by that much. Almost looks like Sanchez saw a hole, closed his eyes and ran for it.GSC wrote:You can see Wilfork push him into him which probably causes the fumble.

Wilfork more held him up and pushed him back a little. It was a busted play, was it meant to be a run or a play action do you reckon?

Run.
Were it a play action Sanchez wouldn't have sprinted back into the line.
Its not a massive push but he does time it well to slam into Sanchez.

Sanchez was just horrible all game. Really cant see how the Jets can keep him as there starter next season.
Pats are now 19-0 in the second half of the season since 2010 with only 5 giveaways to 55 turnovers I think. Pretty crazy turnover differential

Sanchez doesn't have a chance with the defence, lack of a running game and his "receivers".
I really don't understand how people think a QB can succeed without people surrounding him. Josh Freeman is the best example of how talent can make you into a pretty good QB.

Sanchez is truly awful though. Brady made the Superbowl last season with the worst defence in the league, no running game and only Welker as a proper WR.
Sanchez just doesn't have it. Jets need to move on from him asap

Yeah that defence, it's been crap ever since Sanchez had been in town.......... Also Greene isn't a bad running back just not a great one, and he has Holmes and Keller who would start at most teams in the NFL.Thomond wrote:Sanchez doesn't have a chance with the defence, lack of a running game and his "receivers".

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
Holmes is injured if you didn't notice. Keller is in the okay not great bracket. Get him some good playmakers and he might do something.
Also the Patriots defence isn't as bad as it appear,s one they concede a lot of points in garbage time and two. Don't look at the yardage stats those are incredibly deceiving, people place too great an emphasis on it.
The Pats defence were 17th in points conceded. It is actually relatively solid. This year they are 15th.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
I actually hadn't I make an effort to not watch the Jets play, still a good quarterback might do something with the weapons already at the Jets, I would also call Keller better than okay. Also we all knew they were getting a development prospect with Stephen Hill rather than someone who would make a huge impact straight away so I suppose the blame for lack of weapons lies somewhere in the front office.Thomond wrote:Holmes is injured if you didn't notice. Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
He is probably in the second tier fo TEs in the league. After Gonzo, Gronk, Hernandez, Pettigrew, Myers, Daniels, Witten and Davis. Pretty good but not great.
My point is what weapons? Holmes has been relatively average since he has been in New York, he has Keller who is okay but little else.

They will help bail him out. He is forcing the ball on guys trying to make plays as he is down by about 20 points early on.
People honestly need to look at Josh Freeman last year and see the comparisons, they are rather close. I think he could do pretty decent in certain teams, I would be hesitant to draft a QB if I were the Jets, I also get the picture that there are no standout QBs in this draft

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
AFC East will soon be full of young inexperienced QBs and Brady, as Buffalo have said they're getting a QB this year, jets could do with an upgrade if they don't improve their other offensive players. Also Colt McCoy had no weapons he was still replaced, Matt Moore didn't have much he was replaced, people blame QBs it's a fact of life (and I'm sure I could find a million other examples if I could be bothered).Thomond wrote:They will help bail him out. If I was them I would make a play at Alex Smith if he makes free agency this year (i think he will, clearly the 49ers dont believe in him after the whole manning/kaepernick stuff)
And you say the Pats D is decent. The secondary is bloody awful and im a Pats fan saying that.
Sanchez is just plain bad. He made one of the worst throws ive ever seen against the Pats at Foxborough this year. The WR was so open I think I could have made the throw yet he missed him and got picked. He is Poopie

Not sure Smith will be in a better position to succeed in New York still a lack of weapons and he's not a great quarterback.Grant Holt V2 wrote:If I was them I would make a play at Alex Smith if he makes free agency this year (i think he will, clearly the 49ers dont believe in him after the whole manning/kaepernick stuff)

I think Thomond is saying when talking about defenses look at the most important thing (points allowed) any defensive co-ordinator would rather have the opposition put up a tonne of yards but get a small return in points rather than few yards but many points.

The secondary is pretty decent when it matters, they often see a lot of the field as the pats have a lot of quick short scoring drives. They are a lot better than people think

Not sure Calvin Johnson is going to bail out Sanchez under throwing a wife open we in the endzone or him lobbing a ball into the endzone.

Is he garbage? I don't think so, he is not Aaron Rodgers but as he showed in some of his earleir years he can be productive in the right environment.
A lot of people on here and in the media were caling Freeman washed up and garbage. I was one of the few people who defended him and said his issues were fixable. He has done a lot of great work in that regard. Sanchez could too in my opinion, he will need some help to do it no doubt.

Re: Week 12 discussion thread (THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL!)
I think the Jets need to go back to what got them to the AFC Championship games a few years back. Let Rex concentrate on the defence and just run the heck out of the ball. And I dont rate Smith at all, but he would be an upgrade on Sanchez.
And I do think the Pats D is better than what people think, but I still dont trust our secondary to pull it out when it matters in the playoffs. And thats why I dont think we'll make the super bowl this year

The only time Sanchez's surrounding cast has been truly bad is this season.
Funny coincidence thats the time when the Jets enter the toilet
The guys had excuse after excuse made for him because the Jets went to 2 AFCCG. Stick on the tape, hes crap. The Jets made it there in spite of Mark Sanchez. Time has come for the Jets to start over. And not with Tebow, since hes similarly crap.

If by 'the right environment' you mean a defense carrying him on their shoulders, then maybe. There isn't much evidence that he can be productive.Thomond wrote:Is he garbage?
