Worst Indian Test teams

Last one year has been a disaster for Indian Team at least with respect to test cricket, going down 4-0 to England in England and 4-0 to Aussies in Oz and now 2-1 against an England team which traditionally don't have clue against spinners [Pakistan routing them being excellent example] at home, whats more concerning is the way they went down .

So let me put this question to you, is this is the worst ever India test team? atleast in last 20-30 years I guess yes.

From early 90's till now I don't remember an Indian team getting white washed twice in a single year and losing matches [could well be a series ]in Home soil. The Closest I can think of is early 90's but even they didn't get white washed often let alone losing matches in home, atleast they carried a tag of Tiger @ Home and Cats away.

Ponting's, Hussey's career could have well got over in last India tour to Australia had it been any other test playing nation, India toured them at the right time and extended the career of these legends.Thats the only good thing Indian test cricket team did in last 1 year or so. Seriously Ponting should have retired then on a high note and that would have been a fairy tale ending and he could have retired heads high.

Anyways would like to see you guys find a worst Indian team than the current one if possible, so atleast they have some competition in that aspect.

The side that toured in 1990 had a pretty poor bowling attack. Dev was there but past his best and Kumble was a young untried leggie.

Their batting was fine. Azza batted like a magician. Tendulkar was their number six and scored his first test ton in that series.

I would day the current team have a better bowling line up, just, and thanks to their spinners and the batting, about the same.

But Stella the current team have some big names in batting but failing badly as a team, was that team had a similar record as well? did they struggle against many notable opponents? and did they face any white wash?

This team is the biggest dis-oriented and dis-organized team for sure.

Perhaps the India teams of the 1970's rank amongst the worst ever teams that India have put out onto the field since the second world war. In 1974 at Lords, India got bowled out for a paltry score of 42 in their second innings, which must surely be India's lowest ever total made in either innings of test match.

I still won't put that as the worst team, India was new to test cricket yet I am sure they didn't get white washed twice in a row, 1 performance won't make them bad, the current Indian team has consistently failed in test cricket for the last year and so.

They actually did in that 1974 test series V what was a fairly average England team.
