Season 2 begins this week with tactics for the first game due by 11.59 on Friday 15th February
PLEASE NOTE - this season you will receive a 1 point deduction if you do not submit tactics (as well as a default loss) and a 1 point deduction if you do not vote. If you know in advance you are unable to do either, then you must state so on the Holidays/Days Off page, to avoid the penalties.

This. When I got knocked out of the cup it was great to have a week off from tactics. Any second-rate cups will be pointless imo, I can honestly say I'd rather my team not be in the cup at all than have to take part in some circus sideshow.GSC wrote:I enjoy my weeks off when I get eliminated >_>

I would lean towards a winner takes all in the Trophy and Vase, and not too high as you have already been beaten.
In fact the runner up in the vase could lose 3 games and win 1, and get £1m

I know you like the idea Afro, but I don't think the majority would be keen on a Trophy and Vase. Maybe we need to put it to a vote.

I'd just have it that people get knocked out and that's that. It's not like last year where it maybe had too many rounds.

But it was more obvious the number who lost interest in the cup and didn't bother voting when they had been knocked out.
It's 1 or 2 additional weeks out of 15, so is worth doing to retain the interest.

i dunno why we dont have straight knock-out, perliminary 6 2nd div teams hen 2 lowest 1st div after 2 weeks, then straight knock-out, dont like this group stuuf

From what I was getting in the league it seemed that the people who'd lost interest in the cup were the same people who'd lost interest in the league anyway. I'm not sure it correlates necessarily.
We have a good bunch left who would probably like the free money for just voting.

Group stage > preliminary rounds.
It's only like this because there's only 12 teams. If we had 16 still, there would be grounds for doing a knockout again. But there isn't.

From a personal perspective I would prefer to not have a Vase and Trophy as once I lose, I don't want to keep submitting tactics.
But I'm trying to view it from what would keep people voting and be good for the league.
However, f the majority don't want to do it, then it would be counter productive

The Group stage is remaining, with the 4 group winners advancing to the semi finals.
The only thing to potentially vote over is whether to have secondary tournaments for the losers in the group stages.

AgreedGot to have some motivation for winning the Trophy or Vase Afro, or no-one will take it seriously and it ends up a mockery.
