They decide to swap one crappy rule with in my view an even worse one, so now instinct for a RB to lower his head is illegal, nice one NFL

Its only outside the tackle box. You can still go head to head with linebackers. And quite frankly an NFL RB shouldn't need to headbutt a CB to get past him.

Don't see the problem with these rules. Rugby shows if you tackle properly with proper form its perfectly safe. Difference is NFL players tend to go for the flashy torpedo hit which is dangerous.

Fact is, you probably wouldn't like it as much if you were the CB. Not to mention the long term effects that older players are struggling with.

They know what they're getting when they sign the contract, if the corner knew how to tackle it would not happen anyway,, what a corner has business doing near a RB head ? They need to get low and make the tackle!

It's also only forcibly strong hits. Running backs can still protect themselves, they just can't lower their heads to smack opposing players with the crown.

The kind of hit that is going to get flagged under this rule probably doesn't happen that often to be honest.

I think you have to consider that the league is being sued by former players because of concussions suffered this is forcing them to at least look like they're doing something to lessen the chances of these occurring.
