Peterson vs Matthyse

This could be quite possibly the stupidest piece of news I've read in a long time

Their fight will be held at 141lbs and no belts will be on the line. It doesn't make it any less of a great fight but seems a stupid idea for the sake of one pound to not have a world title on the line.

I doubt it has anything to do with Matthyse, they're both promoted by Goldenboy, all the reports i've read seem to suggest it was their decision.

I think it's pretty clear that GBP are doing Khan a favour by getting the title unified so he can try beat Garcia/Peterson/Matthysse and then pretend to be the man at 140...

WBC have probably decided Khan isn't worthy to wear their belt, so it leaves Khan's previous belts WBA/IBF titles as the only option.

i can't understand it, surely GB would prefer matthysse as a champion, due to petersons recent history?

Well he's not gonna fight all 3.

GBP are trying to trick the winner off the 4 man tournament to face Khan.

Khan doesn't merit a title shot at LWW.

He's trying to boost his record by fighting lightweights eg Molina and Diaz.

Beating over matched guys like Molina doesn't mean Khan is still at top fighter at LWW.

Maybe if he was man enough to fight actual LWW fighters then he might merit a title shot.

At present the top LWWs are Garcia, Peterson, Alvarado, Rios and Matthysse.

FFS. He's fought the best on the division with the exception of Lucas and Bradley.

Rios isn't a top LWW. Certainly lower than Khan. Lets not forget that Khan beat Peterson in everyone's eyes but 2 judges with a ref assist.

Perhaps Lucas should man up before and beat actual LWW as opposed to fat SFWs and Euro level fighters.

Lucas has taken every challenge offered to him. Alexander, Judah, Olusegun (who was gonna beat Lucas easily until he didn't then the very people who picked him to win said he was crap even though he was quality before round one began) and now Peterson. In what way is he not manning up?
