Still some British interest today with both Robson and Watson in action today. Serena Williams starts her title defence today.
 
Djokovic, Ferrer, Del Potro and Berdych are also in action.
 
They have a tough act to follow with yesterdays play.
 
Will another top player bite the bullet today?

Hopefuly, wins for Laura and Heather today to lift the doom and gloom of British results yesterday (Murray aside).

I'm a bit confused by the decision to put Ferrer on Centre instead of Del Potro.  It's not because of who is the bigger name between the two but Ramos-Del Potro might be more competitive than  Ferrer-Alund.

The state of young American tennis seems to be healthier than the state of young British tennis right now....

I think Britain does quite well considering the difference in size between the two countries.  However, as Melanie Oudin proves, being good at a young age doesn't mean anything a few years later unless you continue to improve.  Sloane's by far the best one at the moment of either country even though she's going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment.  It was a real crime what spAzarenka did to her at the AO.

Heather Watson loses in straights sets to Madison Keys. But in fairness her US opponent looks like a young star in the making.

Oh that's dreadful luck.  Two dead net cords help Keys take the 2nd 7-5 and the match.  Keys was the better player anyway, though.

Heather goes down 6-3 7-5. Decent scrapping but a really awful service game at 4-3 costs her (she's unlucky in the final game with 2 dead net-chords going the American's way). The rot goes on for the Brits, are we going to once more be in the situation where Murray is the only one flying the flag after R1?

Laura's gonna do Kiri in!!!  Maybe.....

Looking at Serena's half there are only two players who can cause her trouble: Lisicki and Li Na, and I'm only counting Lisicki because of her history at Wimbledon against reigning French Open champions.  Aside from those two, no one either has the ability or the firepower to trouble her.  This might be her easiest major win ever.

Amazingly, she made her Wimbledon debut in 1989 losing to Zina Garrison in the First Round.

Hopefully delpo will wrap up in 3 and I could just see a bit of Laura before I have to shoot out.

Kei Nishikori could be a dark horse in this half of the draw. Impressive today in brushing aside Matthew Ebden leading 6-2 6-4 5-1 as I speak. I like his game and has a good range of shots.

Ramos breaks back. Delpo looking a bit puffed at the sit down!

They've both got really good games if they can play their best and would be in with an actual chance.

Bernard Tomic leads Sam Querrey 7-6 7-6. Is another seed heading out?

Del Potro now well on his way to the Second Round as he leads by two sets and is a break up in the third.

Del Potro played some superb tennis in that match. I recon he will have a good tournament. 

Djokovic looking good early on.

Djokovic wraps up the first set in under 30 minutes, He is looking good in what is a potentially tricky First Round match.

Querrey staging a comeback against Tomic taking the third set and now a break up in the fourth. Haas looks to be coasting through and Del Potro also through.

Querrey's comeback gathers momentum as he is now back level with Tomic at two sets all.

Surprised the way Kohlschreiber exited. Retired citing he was feeling unwell - it all started off so well for him winning the first two sets then he unravelled.

Tomic held firm to beat No.21 seed Sam Querrey in five sets.

Djokovic breaks to lead 6-3 6-5. About to serve for the second set.
