Luke Campbell

To me I find his big hype very strange, yes Olympic gold medalist but wasn't expected to win before the competition, so a surprise gold I feel, home advantage obviously spurred him on. But I just get the feeling in, 4/5 fights time, people will be wondering what all the hype is about, just like Tom Stalker at the moment, I don't believe either can become world beaters, Luke most likely domestic champ at some point, but I don't think he will ever get too European level.

I can't really pinpoint why I believe this to be so...... But the hype is just ridiculous, setting him up for a fall.

What's your thoughts on the hype train?

Granted he's not going to live up to the hype but he will get a lot of exposure as well as high purses for his first few fights and will probably be fast tracked

He's a gold medal winner so it isnt like he's going to completely fail

It's all fairly typical isn't it? It looks a little OTT but sod it, its not like Hull has much else to cheer about.

If they had put him on some undercard in Scarborough then they wouldn't have been able to capitalise on the audience that he may bring from being on Strictly cone dancing. Never watched it but millions do. Seems a likeable bloke so an easy sell to a family audience.
Didn't DLH bring a new audience of housewives in when he won the olympics. May be wrong as cant see how you can measure that.
Sure Haye will do the same and try and get new viewers through being on Im a celebrity.
Obviously OTT for a first pro fight to boxing fans but to strictly viewers they might believe he's the second coming of Ali.
