Randy Orton Attacked at live event

Randy Orton was attacked by a fan after his match against Big E. Langston at tonight's WWE Live Event in Cape Town, South Africa. The incident takes place at about 1:15 into the video where he gets hit with a low blow where posing on the ropes. It's just as well Security was there cos Big E was going to come back and kick his ass after heading off to leave for the back. 

The matter is currently under investigation by the local authorities, and the South African fan is being held in jail pending criminal charges. The extent of Orton's injuries are unknown at this time.

Im aware the video is of poor quality but the WWE's version cuts off after the low blow missing out Orton flipping him off

Is this legit? I thought you heard security shouting to big E "it's all part of the show" and it looks a lot like that South African guy Leo Kruger.

Definitely legit. Orton sold it like a pro because he probably thought it was a work. It was only when he turned around he realised what was going on. The way security entered the ring so quickly makes it clear it's legit. You can see Big E at ringside being restrained by security too.

i very much doubt orton thought this was a work. it was probably the initial shock that floored him rather than pain

I think H is probably right, Orton probably thought it was Big E before he turned around and realised, you can tell because of how quickly he jumped up.

security should have let orton beat the **** out of him before they took the guy away.

Come on guys, we're all long term viewers on here. How often is it a plant, and how often is it a fan?

Also, if it is legit, questions have to be asked of the security. He could have done something a lot more serious.

Why would it be a plant though at a house show? It was all too awkward and shoddy for it to be a plant.

I'm undecided at the moment, the fact that WWE have advertised it on their website leads me to believe it's a work. I would have thought they'd try to bury it if it was real. It's nigh on impossible to see exactly what the attacker looks like but it could be Leo Kruger which would make sense given their in SA and he has a hunter gimmick (hunting vipers?).

As to why they'd do it, well it creates a bit of buzz, kind of like Foley and Ambrose at 'Mania weekend.

Not ruling out it being real as I have no evidence to the contrary, but I'm always cynical and that WWE have publicly aknowledged it on their website makes me think theres something more to it, if anything appears on Raw I'm definatly calling work.

WWE have confirmed the guy was arrested and is in jail pending criminal convictions being brought, it is definately not a work guys. To be honest I wish they had of let Orton and Big E break the guy in half then posted as a warning to idiots who are going to do this sort of stuff.

That WWE statement makes me even more curious, did they not also say Orton was "brutally" attacked from behind....its all a bit to sensationalist for me, WWE dont like sensationalising negative publicity

The report I read said he also went for Big E at ringside when being restrained. How mental do you have to be to think that's a good idea?!

First time I watched it it certainly didnt strike me as being Kruger, and if its meant to be any sort of big deal then Orton's ambivalence but Langston's anger certainly muddy the waters of its credibility

If it is a work then they'll owe some fans a serious apology as they cancelled the meet n greet afterwards due to it.

it's legit, you can clearly hear Big E asking security ' was that part of the show?' indicating he didn't know anything, therefore showing it's legit and not a work

Readers have sent word that the man who "attacked" Randy Orton during last night's WWE Live Event at the Gran West Arena, was a local South African wrestler that goes by the ring name, The Blacksmith.

Prior to the incident, Blacksmith was posing for photos with fans who recognized him. Fan reports suggest that security opened up a window for him, so that he could make his way into the ring to make his attack on 'The Viper'.

Fans in attendance that witnessed the incident felt the Blacksmith was a plant.

ENCA.com out of Johannesburg, South Africa, has picked up on the story of a fan attacking Randy Orton during the Cape Town live event, and the following is an article excerpt:

An over eager fan was met with a boot to the head from WWE wrestler Randy Orton in Cape Town yesterday after he jumped into the ring and hit Orton in the groin.

Local wrestling fan Tshepo Sekhabi, who quit his job in Johannesburg to attend the event, left yesterday night's WWE world tour in Cape Town with a black eye and swollen face after getting kicked just under the eye by Orton.

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is currently performing events across South Africa as part of its World Tour.

Sekhabi (20) scaled the security barrier and easily evaded the events security guards to enter the ring where Orton was celebrating a victory against fellow wrestler Big E Langston.

Sekhabi had time to pause and size up Orton, who was standing on the rings corner ropes, before executing a shocking blow to the wrestlers groin.

Orton fell to the canvas following the hit as security rushed in to apprehend the assailant. Security managed to haul Sekhabi out of the ring, but not before the ‘Apex Predator’ managed to cross the ring and deliver a solid kick to his attackers head.

An equally irate Langston, real name Ettore Ewen, also had to be restrained by security from accosting Sekhabi outside of the ring.

Sekhabi was escorted to the casino’s security offices where he was issued with a five-year ban notice.

In the offices Sekhabi, who said he doesn’t drink or take any drugs, eagerly posed for photos and willingly gave a statement to security personnel.

Calling himself “Jozi, the wrestling machine” Sekhabi said he planned the attack before he arrived said “I just don’t like Randy Orton, this was an opportunity for me so I got up there and made a name for myself.”

The one I would say is that the way the low blow was delivered was very staged. If I was that close to orton, I would have pummelled his spuds for real (in a totally getting way I might add)

Any wrestling fan would know how to deliver a wrestling style low blow. Especially if the guy is a wannabe local wrestler. He was clearly just being a douche but I doubt he had any real intention of actually hurting Orton.

I cant believe some of you long time wrestling fans think its a work. Just watch Orton's body language and the kick to the guys head. Generally if it happens on TV you can take it to the bank that it was scripted but at a house show and given the rushed reaction of security and Orton's mannerisms I would have thought a bunch of smarts like you all can see it wasn't meant to happen.
